Last minute holidays

Had lots of renovations to do this year. Once complete we should have about £2k left over. I’m hoping to have a week abroad in the six weeks holidays. Is a last minute holiday such a thing anymore? Or do I cut my losses and book a uk one?

They’re not much cheap. How many people is the 2k for? Are you wanting AI for that?

What does the £2k need to cover, how many people and how old are the kids.

it would be very possible to do self catering or b&b for that price but AI or half board may be trickier unless the kids are tots. But with self catering or b&b you’d have to factor in the additional cost of food and drinks. How much you’ll need for will depend on how many of you there are and ages.

You will always find something but the idea that holidays booked at the last minute are cheaper, unless very off peak, hasn't been a thing for a while.
Have a look at Jet2 and what you can book now for the school holidays. Whatever is available now will still cost the same or more last minute but there will be less choice.

For your budget your best bet would be on the beach or love holidays. I find tui and jet2 crazy expensive. Though tui do have better last minute deals so may be able to find a bargain. People rave about jet2 but it’s always by far the most expensive for us.

there are a few AI packages on on the beach that come in under £2k.

How many people does the £2k need to cover? Do you already have passports?

You could do Eurocamp for that if you’re willing to drive?

For four of us. Two adults and two children. I used Thomas cook last year and that seemed the cheapest option
