Looking to go in Feb 2026 - my son will be 1 on 22nd and my daughter 3 on 26th, so need plenty of activities etc, whilst also being a nice clean location. Any recommendations please?

No, Butlins was bad enough for me. Does Pontins still exist?

Ive just googled as it was more than 10 years back when we went - I took DS and his friend when they were about 12 and they had a great time, but as an adult it was horrific! Apparently the family ones all closed a couple of years back and they just have two still open which do adult breaks, a bit like warners. So it looks like OP won’t get the chance to appreciate the delights of Pontins, thank goodness.

Forest cabins. Not loads to do but they do have a hot tub each and more private

Have a look at Luxury Family Hotels. If you go in term time it can be cheaper.

Butlin’s in Bognor is ghastly… and I’m not usually a snob! I love Haven caravan park in Weymouth for instance, there’s also a great one (not haven) just outside Lincoln.
God awful fast food, people (one example, family behind us in a queue for food actually calling thier children the c word… as in directly “you are a f’ing c*”, arcades, and no where near enough to do for young children. I’ll never ever go to any Butlin’s again.

GentleSloth · 21/05/2025 19:51

Just found Hoburne they seem reasonable. Has anyone been?

Ladys Mile End in Dawlish, south Devon is nice. I think it's open all year round. Indoor pool with a slide.

Do you mean Tattershall Lakes?

I do! Loved the man made beach. Took our own food, but it was lovely.

MiddleAgedDread · 21/05/2025 20:36

Forest holidays don’t have pools, only hot tubs at some cabins and they’re no good for small children, and little in the way of organised activities on site. Activities tend to be outdoor and wildlife hunting or archery type things so not really aimed at toddlers or February weather!

BuffaloCauliflower · 21/05/2025 21:06

I’d recommend Bluestone

Hoburne in South Devon is a nice park. Compared to the nearest Haven park (Devon Cliffs), I’d say it attracted a quieter type of holidaymaker. We’ve been to both several times.

There are some nice lodges with private hot tubs if you want to pay that.

treetopsgreen · 21/05/2025 21:17

I have been to Hoburne, they are fine but I wouldn't say upmarket.

Frugaleer13 · 21/05/2025 21:25

Seconding Ribby Hall, lovely spa, nice pool and quite a lot for kids

Corgi2023 · 21/05/2025 21:35

Oh yes, Sandy Balls was nice too - we went last year. Not sure if they are open in February though. It is close to Peppa pig world too.

starmoonsun · 21/05/2025 21:39

For those ages and that time of year, I'd definitely go to Butlins on a tots break. It's usually not too busy then, so much for the kids to do aimed at their ages, character shows, photo opportunities, pool, soft play, mini fairground.

Don't go for the cheap accommodation ( which is pretty bad) but the rest is clean and adequate. Get a suite or apartment with a kitchen so you can make some meals if you want and then either go out for meals or eat at the restaurants. If you go to Bognor, the town is a 10 minute walk away.
I'd say to avoid the dinning deals as it is a fairly basic buffet but saying that it worked well when the children were younger and is good value.

Don't knock it till you've tried it, yes it's no 5 star break but the kids will have a blast and then it's easy for the parents. Just go with a realistic mind that it's not a luxury resort.

Mine were similar ages when we first went and we've been back nearly every year since they love it so much. Can't wait to check out the new playzone at Bognor this year.
Done other holidays too (including 5 star places) but kids definitely say Butlins is the best.

oustedbymymate · 21/05/2025 21:48

Have you been to butlins? It's actually ace for that age and very good value for money with loads for that ages to do

FiveBarGate · 21/05/2025 21:51

Do you need to be away for their actual birthdays? They'll presumably want bulky plastic presents which are easier at home.

A Monday to Friday at centre parcs the week after is half the price.

Although in February with toddlers I think there's more at Butlins.

AngelsWithSilverWings · 21/05/2025 21:52

Kelling Heath near Cromer may fit the bill.

BeJollyEagle · 21/05/2025 21:54

Don’t think there are any “upmarket” caravan parks. People who are upmarket don’t go to caravan parks.

Evenstar · 21/05/2025 22:30

Hoburne at Mudeford is nice and there is a heated indoor pool, we’ve never been in February though https://www.hoburne.com/holiday-parks/dorset/hoburne-park/

IFeelLikeChickenTonite · 21/05/2025 23:17

Ladram Bay caravan park in Devon is nice, especially if you get a caravan at the front looking onto the beach. There’s a big grassy area at front for the kids to run around, indoor pool, a playground and on site entertainment.

boopthatdog · 21/05/2025 23:19

Bluestone is lovely.
