Looking for a new destination

Looking for suggestions on new destinations. We have done Spain to death. Don't really know much about France, but would consider somewhere that is near a beach, has some nice restaurants and where we can get around fairly easily. 8 adults so doesn't have to have anything for small kids. Also thinking Greek Islands, Croatia, Bulgaria or Turkey. I

I know nothing much holiday wise about any of these places. I know Croatia is beautiful and so are the Greek Islands but I just don't know where to start. Thinking of August and I know it's late in the day but that's fine.

Any suggestions are welcome

What do you want to do - just beach stuff/activities or sightseeing too? Must it be a sandy beach?

Would Italy appeal?

Kefalonia. A lovely island that still has some quieter resorts . We loved Sicily too. History and beaches .

We like sight seeing and the option of water sports. I'd prefer a sandy beach but wouldn't be a deal breaker. I know nothing much about Italy either for holidays.

Italy has loads to offer.

Someone suggested Sicily - if you are willing to hire a car that would be brilliant. Nice beaches and some incredible sightseeing.

Sardinia is supposed to be good for beaches but I've not been there; a friend didn't think there was enough other stuff to do.

You could go to the Venice Lido which has a beach and is close enough to Venice for day trips.

The Italian lakes offer some water sports and lake swimming but not proper beaches; but gorgeous scenery and some interesting places to visit.

Croatia is beautiful but not sandy beaches.

The Languedoc region in France has a lot of glorious mediterreanan sandy beaches and beach resorts and it tends to be better value than tranditional tourist South of France. Being France there are always good restaurants and loads of interesting history - that area was occupied by the Romans so lots of museums and historic sites. There are holiday parks but they are more aimed at families with young children. I would recommend a hotel/apartment and eating out.

If you want a varied holiday there are plenty of lovely towns that are a short public transport journey from tbe beach or you could stay in a beach resort.

Some knowledge of French will make your hollday a lot easier.

I love France, old towns, great food, wine, sun.
Languedoc is a good call, or Ile de Re, but a while ago and can’t recall the beaches, but that coast is pretty good usually

South of France is easily done on foot which I really like. Antibes has sandy breaches and plenty of them.

Highly recommend Andros. The first of the cycladic islands on the ferry from Athens and we found it to be far quieter than others seemed to be at the same time of year. Plenty of different accommodation options on the island. Mix of sandy and stony beaches, some great little tavernas and easy to hire a car (or two) and get around. Lots of good hiking and walking.

I love the South of France. My favourite "town" beach is Juan Les Pins - gorgeous soft sand. The area around Nice has a trainline that makes it really easy to explore up and down the coast and public transport is generally really good. Lots of nice restaurants at all price points. Would be busy in August but then so is everywhere.
