Going away toiletries….

Seeking the collective wisdom of Mumsnetters….! Over the years, I have changed how I pack my toiletries, when going away. It often seems one of the heavier inner bags of the suitcase or bag, as well as one of the most delicate, given the nature of the contents (lotions, shampoo, makeup, deodorant, toothbrushes/toothpaste, sun creams, etc, etc)! So, my question is, how do you pack these toiletries in order that they don’t get squashed or worse still - burst open/split/leaked….? All in one bag/container? All in separate bags/ziplocks? Over to you lovely peeps, for all the best ideas please….. 🤷🏼‍♀️🥴

@Richie my suncream and toiletries have safely made it to Cyprus in their packing cubes put inside a bin liner. Using the cubes meant the things lay flat rather than piled on top of each other. Probably didn't need the bin liner but that was just in case anything leaked or broke. As we're in a villa we will use the bin liners anyway

These look good. I’ve seen them on Amazon and TikTok.

Solid shampoo bar in a tin, does hair & body

Solid deoderant

Toothpaste tablets

@nobodywantsit that looks like such a clever idea, thanks! 🙏🏻

I keep all mine together in a carrier bag and wrap said bag tightly in 2 towels , it then goes in middle of case so less chance of being knocked …
so far so good 🤞

I travel a lot for work and have moved to solid versions where I can (shampoo/deodorants etc) - brilliant when you’re hand luggage only. I also have little plastics tubs that I put day cream/night cream in etc which have stood me in very good stead over the years. Anything I’m really worried about (tubes etc) I put in plastic bags which then stay in the suitcase for the next time.

Yep! Exactly the same. Shampoo bars are great for holiday.

Never take anything in glass!
Buy special travel mini sizes (eg toothpaste, deoderant) - you can even buy folding travel toothbrushes.
Don't bother with shampoo & shower gel (hotels provide)
No lotions required.
Nothing else really needed but, if you must, decant into small plastic bottles.
Just stick one small sun cream & one small mozzy spray in a freezer bag in the bottom of the suitcase.

I can now get toiletries down to a very small make up bag size, and it's very liberating.
No make up - just a couple of lipsticks in handbag.
You're on holiday - you don't need lots of stuff.
