Bordeaux taxis

Can anyone tell me of a taxi company which would do a trip from Bordeaux train station to Lacanau please?

I know it’s a very specific question, but I’ve had no luck on the Tripadvisor forums.

Are you staying on a campsite or with friends? I’d ask the campsite for reccos. We’re travelling to Biscarosse via Bordeaux this summer. Bit of a journey; local train to a smaller station, then we’re sharing a taxi. Uber has quoted us €100 for that part, so hoping the campsite recommend us a cheaper local taxi! On the way back, we’re getting a local bus, then 2 trains back to Bordeaux.

Have you checked if you can get part of the way there via local train from Bordeaux?

We’re staying at the Yelloh site. I’ll see if I can find a local contact, but they don’t open until the day before we arrive.

I'm not sure on taxi, it is a good hour drive. There is a bus though

Not driving. Not getting the bus.

We’re staying at the Yelloh site too, but at Biscarosse. Have you checked the SNCF app? There’s a local bus #421 to Lacanau from Bordeaux.

In that case if you won’t consider the bus, then taxi or Uber’s your only option. Hopefully Google will bring up some options. I’m braving the bus on my way back, but am factoring in the whole day to get back to Bordeaux for my train home.

If you speak French, Google French yellow pages (Pages Jaunes) you'll find details of local taxi companies there.
Or contact the Bordeaux Tourist Office, they will have a list of taxi companies that cover the area.

That was the whole point of my thread @Oriunda (sigh).

I found this, which looks legit https://vtcbx33.com/

It gave me an estimated price of €133.

Otherwise there will certainly be lots of taxis waiting at the station for any TGV arrival, unless perhaps you're arriving at 1am, and they would be delighted with a fare of this scale.

Thank you @samarrange . That’s very helpful.

It’s mainly that we need a reliable company for the return trip.

We’ve been to the Lacanau Yelloh a couple of times- the reception staff there can’t do enough to help. I’d contact them to ask for advice. They speak good English.
They will know a reputable company I’m sure.

Reception was very helpful @winesolveseverything . Do you have any tips about that particular Yelloh? We’re really looking forward to it.

Oh it’s so, so good! We went 2 years in a row and loved every minute.
We had our car so went off site to the big hyperrmarket which was about a 15 minute drive.

The site itself had a small supermarket- probably the size of a spar type shop here- it sold a little of everything so was ok for first night essentials and replenishing milk etc. Every morning there is a bakery that pops up next to it which was fab for fresh bread and croissants.
You can walk into Lacanau to a slightly bigger supermarket- it’s probably a good 20 minutes. There’s a surf shop there too which you can more or less see from the entrance to the site, it sold much better body boards than the shop on site.
Theres also restaurants down there although we didn’t use them. It’s a real surf vibe and it can get busy.

Make sure you pack enough suncream- we had a heatwave and the site shop sold out, it is also insanely expensive there for some reason.

The site has a kind of square in the middle where the bar and main food outlets are along with seating and the big stage where the main entertainment was each night.
You can get takeout pizza, there’s a crepe and ice cream place, a big salad bar, chicken/fish and chips and a takeout main meal stand which changed the menu every day. There were 2 separate restaurants too.

Swimming pool is brilliant.
Animation team are fab but the kids club do tend to be more French orientated.

The family disco night is really good.

You’ll get a keycard for the gate which leads to the beach. It’s about a 5 minute walk through the dunes. Only people from the site will be on that stretch of beach as the access for general public is much further down. The beach has a lifeguarded section which will be obvious as it’ll be the area of busiest water. They patrol up and down though and will move people if they think it’s dangerous.

There’s a laundry room with big washing machines and dryers- although it’s so hot that stuff dries fast in the sun. Off memory they were about €5 and I recommend you take some of you own detergent pods.

Can’t think of much else.
You will love it there, I’d go back tomorrow!
