Questions about Med hotels

We normally self cater in France and have no idea about how Med hotels work so apologies for the silly questions. I've spotted a hotel I like (will book flights and hotels separately) quite fancy, really nice amazing gardens and pool and path down to beach. Its B&B and the restaurant is very expensive. My question is can you go to into other more reasonably priced hotels for dinner? Or to their bars? There doesn't seem to be many nice local restaurants around the area.

As in, do local hotels open to the public for dining? I'd think your best thing is to contact them directly and check, if it's not on the website.

I'm assuming that "Med Hotels" is not the name of a chain, and that you are asking about hotel and dining practices in the Mediterranean in general.

The Mediterranean is a large area from Spain to Egypt and back again, covering close to 20 countries. There are big cities, highly developed resort towns, and quieter traditional fishing ports. Within that you have hotels that of the traditional kind where you have a room and everything else is à la carte on top, and places that are set up for half- or full-board people with meals served buffet-style. In general most places will let you in to eat there, but at a large all-inclusive resort that will be a bit unusual. And all of this will vary slightly by country.

Also I'm not sure how you have concluded that there are lots of hotels but hardly any restaurants. Seaside places tend to have plenty of both, unless the all-inclusive deals have completely taken over and nobody leaves their hotel.

So it's all a bit "it depends". If it's not going to be too outing, could you perhaps mention the country, region, town, or hotel you are looking at? 🙏

Eating in local restaurants is one of the best bits about the med though. I wouldn't go just for the hotel for longer for a few days.

You are generally allowed in hotel dining rooms but obviously, the hotel guests get priority.

It’s going to depend on the individual hotel. Some only serve hotel guests, some prioritize hotel guests, some simply happen to be located in the hotel. I recall looking at a hotel once that made a point to clarify that booking did not guarantee a table at their very popular restaurant.

@Treeleaf11- can I ask where and what hotel, potentially sounds like what I’ve been looking for 😂
