Ridicuous hotel review

I'm due to visit Tenerife soon so thought I'd check out the recent reviews of our hotel (not sure why since it's all booked and paid for). Anyway here's the latest one:

https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g672806-d13290846-r1006147219-BahiaPrincipeFantasiaTenerife-GolfdelSurSanMigueldeAbonaTenerifeCan.html

Is it just me or is this a ridiculous review? Traveller unable to go due to medical emergency. Attempts to change hotel stay the day before they're due to occupy the accommodation, but hotel refuse. Then blames hotel.

Isn't this what travel insurance is for? How can you reasonably expect a hotel to find new occupants with less than 24 hours notice ('notified the night before')?

@suki1964 I always think ‘ why don’t they mix it up then- one day just have juice and fruit and pastries, another cheese, bread, smoked salmon, ham etc and then another an omelette, mushrooms, tomatoes etc’ !! As you say at home I bet their breakfast is ‘samey’ most of the time. I’m not really sure what people expect . The only time I’ve had an issue with this was in Greece, an upmarket B&b - every morning was home made cakes , all very sweet and sickly , Greek yoghurt, fruit compote, no hot stuff at all - no cold meats, no eggs etc - what there was was indeed very good quality but was incredibly samey - after first 3 days we went into town and got omelettes/toasties/avocado on toast etc every day .

Yes but there’s buffets and buffets. Some have a big range of hot and cold, savoury and sweet, so you can always mix it up.
Others are just eggs/bacon/sausages, a basket of danish and fruit.

The ones I don’t like are where things have been chopped up already - squares of omelette or ham and cheese. It feels like a work meeting spread rather than a nice, spoiling breakfast to set you up for the day (and so don’t even eat breakfast normally)

We are currently touring in a Central American country. First stop was an eco lodge in the jungle. On their website they make a big thing about how all their electricity is solar generated so they don't have air con, tvs in rooms etc. People stay there because the wildlife experience is first rate and the staff really know their stuff re identifying birds etc. One of the guides was telling us they frequently have people turn up and kick off because there aren't tvs in the rooms etc.

We have stayed in bush camps with a generator. The people with multiple battery packs for cameras usually complain. Some even move on - good!

Review is no longer there

@Letsummercommence totally I do get that - hence why to be honest if it’s a bit crap we go elsewhere. But there’s only 2 of us so no big deal - I’ve had a few Spanish hotel breakfast buffets where in theory it was very varied, but nothing was actually very nice- weird tasting omelettes , dry croissants , hard tasteless fruit etc - and of course my aforementioned Greek ‘sickly sweet’ fest!! Some are indeed much better than others - best I’ve had have been in top end German or scandi hotels

I’ve just seen a review of a hotel in Spain where the reviewee gave one star - because of the recent power black out (affecting the whole country).
