Somewhere gorgeous 2 hours or so from edinburgh

For a weekend as we are both frazzled. And probably too frazzled to do airports, travel too far. If anyone knows any lovely small relaxing hotels, please let me know!
we dont mind paying a bit more if it’s relaxing, but don’t want to feel ripped off or be in some massive wedding venue place, as we don’t have that much to splash around - but know these things aren’t cheap. Or maybe they can be?

Holy island is really nice for a relaxing weekend. There's not much to do but the scenery is great and there are nice places to eat. I've not stayed in a hotel on the island as we had a cottage but I know there are a few

It's 3 hours, but Richmond in North Yorkshire is wonderful. I'd take the extra drive... Though Carlisle is good too x

What was it like?

If the weather is nice Arran is gorgeous, we were in our campervan there but Auchrannie hotel resort has a lovely spa and breakfast or maybe a weekend at Forrest Holidays Strathyre coud work.

Another place that has lovely apartments with hot tubs for future reference is Taymouth marina, exactly 2 hr drive from Edinburgh.

thecatsonthemats it was very nice! Mellow reception and bar area and restaurant. It is a wedding venue though so we were at the back of the restaurant in the more modern bit, as there was wedding guests coming into the bar. Food was ok, hotel-ly and pricey for what it was, but we couldn’t be bothered to walk down the beautiful tree lined drive to the town 😀Room was super, Lovely four poster and a big bath on feet. The decor was modern ish sort of grey and white panelling and breakfast was yummy.it was dear for us, but as we only had one night we splurged. Dunked is lovely!
please feel free to post any other hotels and recommendations, it’s so lovely not to ploughing through booking.com, besides I don’t seem to have the knack of finding cool places!

Isle of Mull (4 hours but what a journey). You’ll think you’ve gone to heaven. Especially if you get a ferry to Iona.
