hi, where would you recommend staying with children in Paris? Looking for a hotel for 2/3 nights close to sights but in a safe area that doesn’t cost the earth! Any recommendations? Thanks!

We stayed at this hotel. It's the Latin quarter, we walked to the Seine and Louvre. Also very close to the Luxembourg gardens. We did lots on a short two day trip as was such a fantastic central location.

In the quartier Latin.

St Germaine or the Latin Quarter for me, maybe Le Marais.

We stayed here:

It is walking distance to the Eiffel Tower and the Seine. Really close to a metro station and the metro is really easy to use.

It has a nice pool in the basement too.

I would decide what you actually want to see the most. We’ve just stayed near Chatelet underground station and that was a direct blue line one stop from Gare du Nord, walking distance to Notre Dame Cathedral (brilliant restoration), Seine trips, easy train out to Louis Vuitton foundation and Pompidou centre on the doorstep. Easy access to the Louvre if you wanted it. We walked to left bank from Notre Dame. Very busy in Paris at the moment! We rented an Airbnb. Slightly noisy at night but we noticed the Marais was quieter. Loads of restaurants and even great coffee shops. Also Alaia Foundation nearby if you like fashion (plus a great lunch spot!) and the Pinault Foundation - great building. We like art though!

I’d go for Auber/Opera/Chatelet area, for the best transport links.

Le Marais is gorgeous, and slightly cheaper, a little edgier in parts is the Canal Saint Martin, which is also walking distance from GDN if arriving by Eurostar.

Paris is a small city, with everywhere reachable by metro, and the sights are spread out, so I wouldn’t opt to stay next to a specific site. I’d avoid the Tour Eiffel area like the plague; it’s horrible. In fact, I wouldn’t bother with the Tour. Go up the Tour Montparnasse instead; cheaper and a better view.
