Legoland or Lego House Billund with 4yo?

We’re stopping in Billund for 2 nights as part of a bigger trip in August, so have one full day to do either Legoland or Lego House with DS4. Which would you recommend and why?

Legoland is essentially a Lego theme park, Lego house has amazing models , a bit of interactive and Lego through the years, depends what you want to see

Thewholeplaceglitters · 03/05/2025 22:14

I would find a way to do both/stay an extra day!

but with a 4yo probably Legoland & save Lego house (which is amazing) for another trip when they’re bigger.

Cazziebo · 03/05/2025 22:25

Agree with @Tea4teaBoth are worth doing. If you’re stopping off at Lalandia there’s loads to do there as well!

Smallinthesmoke · 03/05/2025 22:39

Absolutely move heaven and earth to do both, unless you're planning to go back. They are quite different but equally fab.

mismomary · 03/05/2025 22:53

If you really only have one day I'd do Legoland.

Clearinguptheclutter · 04/05/2025 08:21

A real shame not to do both
but if its not possible I’d choose Legoland at 4. My (older) kids would say Lego house. They also loved the water park at Lalandia

JustFeedMeCake · 04/05/2025 08:31

Legoland is dreadful, it’s very run down and needs a good clean and happier employees or least some that can pretend to be happy.

LittleMy77 · 04/05/2025 08:33

Can you do both?Sounds mad, but when we went last year, DS (8) had enough of legoland after about 4 hours. He’s not a big ride fan, and I imagine at 4 there’s some stuff your DS won’t be able to go on?

I agree you could do less than a full day in Legoland & still feel you’ve experienced it. I think you need a whole day for the Lego house though, to properly see everything, do the restaurant etc.

In Billund? I agree re Windsor but our Billund experience a couple of years ago was very different from this.

Elpheba · 04/05/2025 08:54

Agree it depends on your kids- we did both 2 years ago (4 and 6 year old) and are going back this year and just doing the house because our kids don’t really like rides and got much more out of the lego house, us adults preferred it too.

olivelime · 04/05/2025 09:40

The lego house is brilliant, definitely book up the restaurant beforehand so you get lunch served to you by robots! I think the lego house is more unique - there's nowhere else like it. You could go to legoland theme park in the UK. We did both plus an afternoon in lalandia aqua park (stayed there) last year and it was a highlight of our trip for the kids. One thing I wasn't expecting was that things close early at 5pm- I had sort of expected it to be like disneyland and open until the evening at least. But Danes are very keen on work/life balance!

we are talking about Billund here, I don’t recognise that description at all

Legoland in Billund is a far better experience than the one in Windsor - and certainly no grumpy employees or run down rides and facilities.

If the weather forecast is for a dry, sunny day then go to Legoland. If the forecast is for rain and wind, consider the Lego House (although you'll need to book in advance) even though 4 years old might just be on the young side for getting the most out of it unless he's already into Lego. In my experience, the adults get as much out of Lego House as the kids do - first you watch your child while they put something together, then you pick up a brick ... then another ... then another ...🙂

Oops I was referring to Windsor 🤦🏽‍♀️

I've just returned from a week in Billund with a 4yr old.

If you absolutely can't extend the trip to do both, I'd suggest Lego House as it has so much to do and the 4yr old can be more in control of exploring.

There's inside, the outside (free) and mini chef.
We didn't plan to, but ended up being there nearly 3 days!

Legoland was amazing. So much better than Windsor and we were lucky it has been so empty the last week.
However, the 4yr old took a while to 'warm up' and didn't really go on as many rides as we would have liked.

QueenOfTheSandals · 24/05/2025 20:01

If your kid is a big Lego fan then definitely do Legohouse. We’ve been twice and my son was about 4/5 on the first trip and loved it so much we went back a few years later. It’s a one of a kind place. Book the restaurant in advance and explore the playgrounds and shop before the ticketed part opens.
legoland might be better if your kid doesn’t want to build loads of Lego all day. It is also really nice. Enjoy your trip!
