Going to Paris for 2 nights in May - not my first time, looking for hidden gems

Hey everyone!

I’m heading to Paris for two nights at the end of May and would love your recommendations, tips or suggestions to help me make the most of it.

It’s not my first time in Paris (last visited in September), so I’m not looking for the usual tourist spots - I don’t go to Paris for that. I’m after hidden gems, must-visit local places and experiences that feel a bit more off the beaten path.

I’ll be staying near Bois de Vincennes, so anything in that area or easy to get to by metro would be fab. Would love your ideas - restaurants, cafés, boutiques, scenic walks, exhibitions, local markets, anything you think is worth it!

Thanks in advance!

I don't know that area well I'm afraid, but Canal St Martin/ de l'Ourq is lovely to walk along.

I love having a hamam at the Grande Mosquee de Paris (it's women all the time now I think), and that whole area has got so much in it- Rue Mouffetard with its food market, Place du Contrescarpe, Jardin des Plantes, Institut du Monde Arabe, the Pantheon etc.

Watch the tango dancers at Place Tino Rossi along the Seine.

I discovered that in October, it's great- especially if your end destination is Bastille/ Gare du Lyon anyway.

Or have a wander in the Marais and visit Place des Vosges and Musee du Carnavalet/ Musee de Cluny. Stopping off on the Rue des Rosiers for a falafel is obligatory.

I liked the Marie Curie museum but that's due to professional interest. It was, unsurprisingly, near the Sorbonne so a nice area to wander around and I also got a beurre jambon from what felt like a locals sandwich shop. Even if it was the French equivalent of Subway, I don't care as it was very nice.

It was also near the (I think) Parc du Luxembourg, which had a statue of liberty in it. I later found out there was several in Paris.

I don't know if it counts as non touristy, but I did think it would be fun to find them all.
