Virgin flights - daughter has bowel disease?

Hey! I hope this is the right place to post this. In September we’re flying to Orlando and my 7 year old daughter has got ulcerative colitis.
When booking the holiday, the travel agent said we shouldn’t have to pay to reserve seats etc due to the time of year we’re flying.

I was wondering - do Virgin offer any sort of assistance for things like this, ie offer seats near a toilet etc? She also is being tested for osteoporosis as has terrible pains in her joints (it could be inflammation from the bowel disease) but standing for a long time is not ideal either.
She has a can’t wait card but is this effective on board does anyone know?

Sorry just feeling a bit anxious about it all.
Thanks in advance!

I would contact their customer services direct. And I would always reserve seats rather than chance it.

Virgin have a special assistance team who should be able to help with travel arrangements. They will talk through her needs and help where they can - I imagine she would qualify for priority boarding. They certainly were very helpful with my disabled son and he also had additional baggage allowance.

I've never flown with virgin but when I do fly I ring the airlines special assistance team and they tell you what they can do.
Dc had medical equipment and if you have a gp letter most airlines allow an extra bag.
I've had front row seats reserved on transfers, taken through security, my wheelchair brought to gate, reserved seats on plane. I just tell them my difficulties and they let me know what they can provide/notify the airport staff etc.

I don’t fly Virgin - I fly BA due to Avios points etc but BA special assistance is superb and you are able to have seat selection for free. I imagine Virgin be very similar.

if you go into manage my booking you should find something for special assistance

I think the huge problem is turbulence, not the airline. We seem to spend quite a long time with seatbelts worn now. Plus she might need a loo but getting one is another matter. Some people take forever. It’s not just a case of getting to the front of the queue, it’s getting into the loo! Good luck and you should get suitable seats.

She’ll probably qualify for assistance, but I’d reserve seats anyway just in case. Even when close to the toilet though I’m not sure what the airline can do about the wait though, there will be times when she won’t be able to use the toilet like take off and landing, and also in turbulence which can last an hour sometimes, and also there may just be slow people in the toilets or a queue.

Customer service will probably reserve seats together for free for you. They do for me and Dd due to medical needs.

If you go into the Virgin Flight booking there should be a special assistance section where you can request assistance at the airport and on board.
You can get wheel chair assistance so your daughter doesn’t have to walk and request specific seats near the toilets, meals etc.
