Car free places to go?

We live in Shropshire and are looking for places to go for around a weeks holiday early July. We want to go to Norfolk (Norwich and North Norfolk) at some point but the logistics of getting there are difficult.
We are open to any suggestions. We did Cornwall last year car free and it was great, the public transport system was brilliant.
We wondered about Bournemouth / Poole area which we have never been to?
We are a couple in our 60's and enjoy short hikes and scenery, art galleries, theatre, architecture.
Many thanks for any suggestions.

York. Lots to do in the city, plus lots of day trips. You can get to Harrogate or out to the coast (Scarborough) by train. For scenic walks in the North York Moors, you can use the Moorsbus https://www.moorsbus.org/

The Isle of Wight is excellent to visit with public transport and also the Isle of Purbeck.

Poole has some amazing beaches that are far less crowded than Bournemouth. You'd need to get the bus to Sandbanks though. Poole is nice with the Quay for pubs and seafood restaurants, and its smuggling history, plus you're only a short hop on the boat from Brownsea Island, a nature reserve with red squirrels, peacocks, etc. Most of the best bars, pubs and restaurants are congregated at Ashley Cross these days which has a very good frequent bus service from Poole bus station.

The nicest beach in Bournemouth area, and less crowded, is in the Southbourne area. The latter is one of the nicest parts of Bournemouth too with a pleasant High Street. For history though, Poole trumps Bournemouth.

Another nice day out from Poole is a bus to Corfe, with its old Castle ruins and nice village. You can also get the heritage train line to Swanage.

Poole sounds good, i'll have a look into it. We can get to Bournemouth with only one change which was why Id thought of the south coast in the first place (and not been before) I realise that Poole is nearby so should be doable, just another short train away.
Both York and Isle of Wight are lovely and we have visited before, York several times, but this was with a car so getting there and exploring by public transport may be difficult.
Thanks for the suggestions

Sark, literally car free. Friends with children went last year and loved it.

We did Exmouth by train last year and have previously done Penzance, Totnes, Aviemore and Arran, all of which we enjoyed.

Slightly further, but a lot of France is very doable by train. We've done Nice, Montpellier, Chambery, Vannes and Benôdet recently.

The Isle of Wight has a great bus service - you can buy a pass for the week and it’s very efficient
