Flying with British Airways BA - 21 Weeks Pregnant

Hi

Has anyone recently flown with BA while pregnant? Did you get asked for a fit to fly note?

I've flown in pregnancy before with BA and the guidance back in 2023 was that over 28 weeks you need a fit to fly note. I'm due to fly next week at 21 weeks (12 hour flight) and assumed I wouldn't need this but I checked their website last night and looks like they've changed their policy to requiring pregnant women to complete a pregnancy form signed by a GP 🙃 it doesn't specify a gestation so I'm assuming it refers to all pregnant women?

If anyone can advise that would be great as I'm stressing out now. Not sure I have time to get my hands on one!

Thank you xx

Unbelievable policy. At 21 weeks I’d ignore, there is no way every pregnant woman is getting a fit note nor should we be taking valuable GPs time to get one.

Wear a baggy top? As long as your health insurance is in place I’d be amazed if you had a problem flying at 21 weeks! All the suggestions on official websites I’ve seen state 34-36 weeks as a cut off

As a GP, I would (for a fee) write a factual letter confirming your oregnancy, but we don't use the words fit to fly as we're not insured to do so.

I wouldn’t be at all worried - and I agree with pp, just wear a loose top!

My midwife said they could provide fit to fly letters, so you could ask her when you next see her?

Just don’t tell them. If you’re asked act offended.
