Not sure if this is the best place to post this, but here goes... hoping s/o can help.

Will shortly be joining DH in Canada for 3 months, with 5mo DD. What's the most appropriate type of cover to take out - specifically for health, but will need baggage etc too? I'm not thinking of health emergencies, just general GP-ish type care, if we need it.

DH is covered by his work, I am not.

Surely someone's had experience of this??? The annual policies seem to be no good as they max out after 60 days stay and the prices for long-stay seem so variable that I don't know what to do?

are you covered by your bank account or credit cards?

We were abroad for 12 weeks last year and our normal annual travel insurance which covers health, baggage and everything else was only valid for 60 days.
We took another standard package but that would last for the whole trip, it was about £170 for 3 of us. Most travel insurance companies offer extended terms at a cost of course.

By the way our home insurance would Ave been invalid if our home was empty for 30 days or more, we just got a relative to visit for a day or so, although I think the company means overnight.
Hope this helps.

Try Trailfinders. I think I booked 3 months for my dh.

When we went to India for three months, we had to book a separate 3 month cover, we used Columbus Direct.

okey-croaky. Thanks. Yes, rellies are on stand-by for monthly poking around visits. I looked at BUPA's foreign non-emergency health cover and it's a HUGE PRICE. So will just have to quell my 1st time mum dash-to-the-GP instincts.
