We are willing to travel about an hour in the car from Cleethorpes and we are coming with my parents so there will be myself(7months pg), DH, my mum, my dad, and ds aged 2. Do any of you have any good ideas for days out. DS likes zoos, trains especially steam trains, farms, soft play etc and ideally I would like to find somewhere we could all enjoy for a day. TIA

I take it by the lack of response there is nothing to do round Cleethorpes or wont anyone admit to having been there!

Hi i live near cleethorpes and no there's not much to do, if it's a nice day there is the beach and the light steam railway takes about half hour to go along track and back but you can get off and go for a walk then get back on it, my 3yr old ds loves it.

Then theres play towers, the 'slots' think ds will be too young for plesure island (more geared to 5 yrs up) and loads of fish and chips shops.

Near by there is Louth (about 20 mins away) a market town but theres a pubilc green land (Hubberds Hills) which is quite peacefull and loads of room to run around.

I would recomend Licion(around an hour away) but theres the catherdral, (sp?) castle, linconshire life musume, boat rides and shopping center, BUT be worriened although Grimsby/Cleethorpes are quite flat there are a lot of cobbled and steep hills in Licion so you may need to move the car around abit if you dont feel up to walking up and down at 7 mths prg.

There is a torist information shop on the main drag near sea front (along were libary is) which should help and thers a great farm (Hall Farm about 30/45 mins awy) just past Caster it has animals, tractor rides (you sometimes get to feed the cows potatoes), goat walks, go carts, park, CLEAN tea room, cars and bikes for younger children, big and small trampline, bouncy castles, sand and an astro slide. When i take my ds 3 and dss 9 we all love it.

Hth

Sorry don't know what happened to some of my spelling there!

You might be better off going to Mablethorpe, there is a seal sanctuary there. Not much to do at Cleethorpes for a 2yo.

There is a good farm near Skegness - Hardy's Animal Farm. Or Rand Park Farm near Lincoln.

Lincolnshire Wolds Railway.

Only open certain days.

If you go as far as Lincoln then park on the north side of the town near the castle. Westgate carpark probably the best. Short walk to castle and cathedral and more independent shops. Then if you want to go to the main High St you need to walk down Steep Hill. But there is a regular minibus if you don't fancy the walk back up.

There is Elsham Hall which is fairly close to Cleethorpes, my dd used to love that when she was younger. Nice gardens, lake. Some animals and a little play area. There is a fairly new Nature Reserve at Barton on Humber called Waters Edge which is meant to be great.

Thanks for the info, think will definitely do the steam train it is open the Sunday we are there and maybe one of the farms as well. We like to travel a bit further afield during the day so that ds has about an hours nap in the mid afternoon so that we can then go to the entertainment at night and not be stuck in the caravan from 7pm! Does anyone know if it is safe for me to visit a farm at 7 months pregnant if I stay away from sheep?

You will be fine as long as you don't touch the sheep.
