How cold it is will really depend on where the villa is. We used to have a house near Izmir on the coast. December was proper cold and quite rainy. Our house was in an area where Turks tend to holiday in the summer but in winter it was dead, most restaurants etc were shut up.

On the other hand I spent christmas 2004 in Cappadocia (a stunning area of central Turkey famed for its incredible landscapes and rock formations). It was cold (snowing in fact) but it was the most magical christmas ever, the few restaurants in our village were still open and the landscape was magical in the snow. Everyone was very friendly and because some very, very early christians settled there we visited some stunning early cave churches on christmas day itself.
