We are going away next month, considering taking a pushchair for DD - it’s a beach holiday, we are going to Turkey. She’s not really a daytime napper, so thinking it would be handy to have in the evenings if she’s tired.

Thoughts?

*Shes just turned 4

We took ours last year but was a total waste of time. He was just about to turn three. He was never in it. It just sat in the hotel room.

IME also a bonus for the airport as they see the buggy and usher you to the slightly shorter queues for security etc. We joked last year that we’d keep DS as long as possible!

At 4 my DDs were at school. So pushchair long gone. It’s a bit babyish at 4!

Good for you!

However this thread is for people who are not doing what you did and are instead taking a pushchair on holiday.

Hopefully that helps.

We got a second hand micralite fast fold one and it was great for getting around airports, on the beach and evenings. It was a single and at times our kids would share it, had huge back wheels so good on the beech, I think I bought if for £12 and sold it for £20! If you decide you don't need it you don't need to bring it back if you get something that cheep.

@frenchnoodle Never saw a 4 or 5 year old in a pushchair. School ready stamina for me. And for most people, even on holiday. Each to their own!

At just turned 4 we definitely took ours. It was most useful at airports especially if you end up in long queues at passport control.

My Ds will be 5 by next flight and we probably won’t take now. Wondering where to hang all our bags

Our DS didn’t use a buggy at all once he reached 3. He’s about to turn 4 soon and it wouldn’t cross my mind to put him in one now. He’s happy to walk miles though so he wouldn’t be in the slightest bit interested in using one now. I always wonder if there is a problem with the child when I see a 4+ using a buggy.

It depends on the child and your family circumstances. Do what suits you.

We did a lot of daily walking and had a double buggy. DD1 was still using the buggy the week before she started school (aged nearly 5), DD2 was 3 and stopped using it at the same time. DD1 had tantrums all the time during the walk home from school, DD2 (who was walking there and back twice a day) never complained. DS used the buggy far less, he was in the sling for the walk to and from school and the move from sling to walking was far more gradual because it was easy to start walking then transition to the buggy when he got tired (we found with all 3 if we had the buggy they wanted to be in it).
