Two days in Bristol

I’ve booked a weekend (one night) in Bristol next month. We’re staying in a hotel on Broad Street. Any suggestions for an itinerary and/or things not to miss?

Also any ideas for dinner on the Saturday night? Nothing too posh because we’ll be travelling light so I don’t want have to bring a whole outfit for the evening.

Have a potter along the Harbourside. You can visit the Matthew & SS Great Britain. There's the M shed museum too and you could take a ferry ride too.
Clifton Village/Park St is nice to walk around with some nice independent shops. You can visit the museum as well. Cabot Tower is just off Park St and is set in a lovely park, amazing views from the top. Suspension Bridge is worth a visit & there is an observatory/cave close by which is worth a visit. Hope you have a lovely visit 😊

Do you like swimming? If so the Clifton Lido (also has a cafe / restaurant overlooking the water)
walk over the suspension bridge and
the Clifton observatory if the weather is good, or walk into Ashton court and the deer enclosure
see what’s on at the arnolfini
have a pint down by the docks

bedminster/stokes croft for graffiti murals

There's loads of pubs and bars around the harbourside serving food.
You could see a show at The Bristol Hippodrome, Bristol Beacon or Bristol Old Vic. They're all within walking distance of Broad Street. Visit The Arnolfini art gallery. If you have kids with you then We The Curious is a hands on science place.
Probably another time I would suggest the Aerospace Museum, The Wild Place and The Wave which are all in North Bristol.

If you like cocktails Gin and Juice is a fabulous place

Clifton is nice to have a wander around. Wake the tiger is fun. The harbour side near the hippodrome has good vibes and has a nice little street food market during the day. Loads of different places to eat around there.
there are also various banksy’s all around the city to spot. Bristol is a very walkable city. Everything is pretty compact.

St Nicholas market is fantastic for daytime street food, loads of high-quality options.

Bosco Pizzeria in Clifton is the best pizza I’ve had for a long time, cool interior, was really impressed during a recent visit.

If specialty coffee is your thing
FCP
Small St Espresso
Little Victories
Greytone (a bit out of the way but worth it).

Brunch - Spicer & Cole (3 venues in the city).

I'd recommend Beirut Mezze for dinner. It's a nice change from curry/ pizza and is similar to Greek so not someone that you have to worry about whether you'd like it or not.

There's an awful lot of things to do in Bristol, . My then 7 year old grandson chose the Arnolfini art gallery and the M shed museum.
If you're lucky you may be on a day when the train runs alon the harbour.

Pop by Christmas Steps during a wander (it's very central), especially Ahh Toots bakery, it's beautiful and full of amazing cakes.

The cathedral is lovely and then walk up to Clifton village. Go to the Lido for lunch. It’s absolutely unique. Look at its history on line. Happy memories there!

I love Wake The Tiger - we got a bus from the station and then walked about 10 minutes. It was on an industrial estate and not the nicest walk but Wake The Tiger was amazing: https://www.wakethetiger.com/
