Legoland and teens

I posted about taking my teens to Legoland but a few people have told me they would be too old? They are 11 13 and 13 (will also have a 7 year old) are they too old? They are not into thrill rides or big rides so I’m thinking it would be ok? They like more tame rides anyway. One is a big fan of Lego. Has anyone taken teens there and how did they feel about it? Don’t want a wasted day.. thanks

I think just ask them and see how they feel about it? It depends on the child but for some 13 wouldn't be seen as too old whatsoever as long as they're not too grown up yet. But me personally my 13 year old son would hate to be at Legoland

Snorlaxo · 20/03/2025 17:52

It’s great for 7 year olds but my kids outgrew it by secondary school and preferred Alton Towers, Thorpe Park etc (11 and in year 7 is obviously different from 11 and in year 6 so the 11 year old might like it too. )

Ime most of the children are primary age

TooManyNiblings · 20/03/2025 17:53

DD is going with guides and rangers next month, they range from 10-18 and are all excited! It really depends on the kids.

FlowerFlowerFlower · 20/03/2025 17:55

11 year old turned 11 2 weeks ago so only just turned 11 (year 6) and 13 year old is turning 13 on Saturday so would be for his birthday, he doesn’t have any ideas what he wants to do for it, so I’ve come up with it as an idea as everything else I suggest he says no 😒🙄

DD and DS are both 10 and would much prefer Chessington, Alton Towers or Thorpe Park now. They are theme park fiends though and not particularly into LEGO. If yours are into LEGO and not bothered about thrill rides then I reckon they would like it.

Jellyslothbridge · 20/03/2025 18:09

Is it the 13 year old that likes lego? If so go for it.
We had merlin passes so regularly went untill oldest was around 14 and they always enjoyed it. We mixed up between Thorpe Park and Chessington and Legoland as one of them didn't like the thrill rides but one did.

I was going to say this. At that age my children prefered Chessington and Alton Towers over Legoland. Although as someobe who loves lego my husband would happily go back just for the theming

Yes my son’s birthday he will be 13 he is the one that likes Lego he wants to see the Miniland.

If he wants to see Miniland then it sounds like you should go for it.

HarryVanderspeigle · 20/03/2025 18:35

It's my least favourite of all the them parks we have been to, so I am biased, but I can't imagine many 13 year olds would love it. I went with my kids when they were under 10 and they enjoyed it. The one ride that seemed to be good for older ones was the sky lion ride and we never made it as the queue was over 1.5 hours. The mini land builds are great, but you are paying theme park prices to view lego.

TeamGeriatric · 20/03/2025 18:44

We took our kids to the Windsor Legoland when they were 3 and 6, and it was perfect at that age. I think they would.pick Chessington or Thorpe Park now they are 10 and 13. I do though think Legoland has a few rides that might appeal to the 11-13 age group, I'm thinking the log flume, the Ninjago ride and vikings river splash, autumns riding adventure, but in the main the rides are really quite tame and geared to little kids, usually with long queues to boot. Rides have probably changed a bit, as we haven't been since 2018. From memory they had some lego building activities which sounds like your kids would probably enjoy.

Doingthework · 20/03/2025 19:03

Hi op I went last year with my boys . I love theme parks and would happily go to Lego land to ride the Skylion ride all day.

We also spent ages in miniland and the build centre. As an adult I also really enjoyed the water stunt show.

The shop was also good and he could spend any birthday money in there.

Have a fab time

Whataninterestinglookingpotato · 20/03/2025 19:04

My two are 20 and 17 and would probably still enjoy it now! I’ve not been with them since they were 8 and 5 but the 20 year old has been a couple of times on her own in the last few years. She likes Lego.

if your ds likes Lego then go for it. It doesn’t have to be big thrill rides only once the hit secondary school.

Dairymilkisminging · 20/03/2025 19:19

There's loads to do other than rides too. Alot of building workshops ect. There's some "bigger" rides that's are not really that scary or big. Deffo recommend flight of the sky lion. I think they'll enjoy legoland.

Chessington is a no go this year they've closed half the rides to make way for new ones.

PandaG · 20/03/2025 19:21

I went with DH and friends before we had children.... We loved mini land. If it's your eldest who loves lego then yes, go.

BrucesTooth · 20/03/2025 19:24

We did Legoland with almost 9 and almost 11 yr old. Was definitely as old as you'd want to be for Legoland at 11 (big Lego fan). Really no rides for older ones, there is a new duelling coaster and skylion but still very low key. I'd say 5-10 is ideal for there.

For your kids ages, Paultons Park by the new forest would be a great pick for day out- suits from very small to older teens and adults with rides plus some animals and things.

boulevardofbrokendreamss · 20/03/2025 19:53

Too old imo.

FlowerFlowerFlower · 20/03/2025 19:55

Thanks all. Thanks for the heads up about Chessington. I did suggest chessington to him but he went with his school in year 5 and said he didn’t really like it.

@FlowerFlowerFlower i took my 12,11 and 8 year old recently. All boys and all love lego and don’t into thrill rides. They absolutely loved it.

Jellyslothbridge · 21/03/2025 10:43

My adult daughter said she would happily spend a day there. There are rides that adults can enjoy just not very extreme thrill rides. It's a great place if you like lego.

user1471474138 · 21/03/2025 10:46

Dds yr 8 end of year school trip was to Legoland and they all seemed to have a great time - they were pretty much all 13 at that point

BrucesTooth · 21/03/2025 20:37

Also if you do go to legoland- if you have Tesco clubcard vouchers you can use those at 2x value to pay for tickets. We did that and then paid for the basic queue jump ourselves and it made the world of difference to the visit. I hate the two tier system, but it does make it very different if you visit at a weekend/hol. We did have a very good time overall so if they really aren't ride conscious you would have a great time.

okydokethen · 21/03/2025 20:50

My 11 and 13 year old like it there. 13 prefers Thorpe park for mega rides but legoland is great, we go a fair bit with Merlin passes and I don’t think they are too old.

DitzyDerbyBabe86 · 21/03/2025 20:56

We went a few years ago when my ds was 11. He was definitely at the upper end age wise then. I can’t imagine taking him now at 14.
