Passport validity paranoia

I know this comes up a lot but can people in the know confirm this passport is ok for travel to EU from UK.

Passport issued 26th May 2015. Expiry 26th October 2025.

Travel on 2nd April for 2 weeks.

I keep re-reading the rules and am 99% sure it is ok but would love some reassurance.

It depends where, some destinations require 3/6 months validity and with 10 years of issue(26th May 2025).

Yes, it's fine to an EU country, however there are examples each day of airlines wrongly refusing travel so whilst it's fine, there is a small chance you could be wrongly denied travel.

To travel to the EU from the UK, your passport must be issued less than 10 years before your arrival date and valid for at least 3 months after your planned departure date from the Schengen area.

Greece. Sorry I thought all EU was the same.

Thanks. This is what makes me nervous. But I begrudge getting a new passport if it is valid.

So for Greece you require to

  • Have a ‘date of issue’ less than 10 years before the date you arrive – if you renewed your passport before 1 October 2018, it may have a date of issue that is more than 10 years ago

*have an ‘expiry date’ at least 3 months after the day you plan to leave the Schengen area

You fulfil the both requirements I believe

Yes, it's fine, and it would be fine for any country in the world, as it's valid for 6 months after your return date in mid-April.

Only three more years until the last UK passports with added-on time for early renewal expire, and it will go back to just being the one rule (3 months left on date of return), because that includes the 10-years-since-issue rule. Simon Calder will crack open a bottle of champagne on that day, I'm sure.

He will, but then he'll bemoan it as he'll need to come up with at least 50% more new material for his newspaper articles. Currently he can copy and paste the same old, albeit sad, story; just editing the travellers names and destinations 🤣
