Hi

I’ve just purchased a caravan on a Haven site local to Bristol. Can everyone who holidays in a caravan regularly give me some ideas on things/extras they feel is needed when staying in a caravan!
i feel I have thought of most things but any help appreciated.

basic cleaning items
tea towels
dishcloth
clothes airer
black out curtains / blinds in bedrooms

Darkclothes · 18/03/2025 13:33

There are several collapsible items which can be handy. A washing basket like this can be handy for carrying food/towels/linen. I had a fold up round bowl which was handy for washing up outside.

I also used a zip up bag which is often used in launderettes to put dirty clothes in.

These hanger things can be handy to store more clothes. Or these hooks so you can add extra hangers on.

First aid kit and basics like fly spray, itchy cream, paracetamol/allergy meds
A wall clock

Collapsible Laundry Basket

The space saving design allows the basket to collapse when not in use for hassle free storage. Easy to use - simply push the base to expand. Large soft grip handles make carrying easy.

Collapsible

Product dimensions when open: 61.0...

I wouldn't leave medications!

Thank you I have all of the above and a small over the window airer but might get something a bit bigger or a couple more of the the others.

Will definitely get a collapsible basket, I have both adult and children’s hangers and plenty of them. I also have bin liners so they can be used for dirty laundry.

Clip on rechargeable lamps. You can move them around easily and don’t take up any space. Small baking trays, tongs, a waterproof mat to put outside for dirty shoes and a sealable plastic box for outdoor toys and wellies that can live under the van or decking.

Fairy lights, battery operated for the bedrooms.

Stick on hooks for dressing gowns, coats and towels.

Not caravan specific but just thinking about things that irritate or have been lacking in self catering properties over the years:
enough cutlery and crockery (1 per person is not enough!)
Large enough pans and baking trays (particularly an issue in higher occupancy properties)
oven gloves
a sieve
a corkscrew
a teapot and cafetière
hooks for coats in the hall, towels in the bathroom, and clothes on the back of the bedroom door.
hypoallergenic pillows and duvets - feathers are not luxurious if you’re allergic to them!
hand towels as well as bath towels
Handwash in the bathroom
washing up liquid

Thank you, I have all the kitchen utensils and plenty of pans, two sets. I don’t have feather pillows and duvets but hypoallergenic is a good idea. I do supply hand towels but not bath towels.

Apologies OP. Please disregard my earlier post!

I wrongly assumed you'd purchase this caravan as a holiday home for your immediate family only.

Your OP never mention it was to be a holiday let, so my suggestions would be completely different in that case!

CountryQueen · 18/03/2025 22:18

Ah, same. I thought it was for personal use. Don’t leave plastic boxes with old wellies in outside on the deck, nor a manky muddy mat! Decent lighting for the evening is a must though

MouldyCandy · 18/03/2025 23:08

Clear instructions on how to log into the WiFi.
Clear instructions on what to do with rubbish/recycling - and appreciate internal bins for different materials.
