Barcelona with children

I'm after recommendations please. Perhaps the lesser known places / museums that children might enjoy? Children age 15, 12 and 7 so not tiny by any means and able to walk /concentrate.

One football mad child too - there are no stadium tour tickets for when we're there but perhaps there is something else to visit?

One week in Easter holidays. Staying centrally and will use public transport to get around.

Also any major attractions that you would not bother with? Sagrada familia is so expensive, will I kick myself if we don't go in?

Also any tips on particular cafes/ parks etc.

Thank you

Yes I can help! Just got back ds 13 and footy mad, we went to the barcelona futsal stadium which is next to the main stadium and pretty cheap. Was good fun.there are no stadium tours as ite building site, but tge futsal is open.
Also ds has adhd we walked to the gaudi cathedral, gaudi Park, he was fine with thus, he's not good with museums but he really enjoyed the moco museum, we also did the cable car and wondered around Los ramblas, found a really nice and good value gyozo restaurant called lady dumpling (found the tapas a bit hit and miss and pricey) which we all enjoyed. Overall you will have a great time! Links below ;)

Yes, you need to see La Sagrada. It’s worth the money, imo.

El Bosc de les Fades is a fun, whimsical cafe which my dd enjoyed. Something on the menu to please everyone and looks magical after dark. You can’t reserve a table so pick a quiet time.

The Laberint d’Horta is a fun maze in a beautiful park. It’s easy to reach by public transport, the metro stop Mundet where the L3 line stops is right nearby.

CosmoCaixa was good. Something there for all ages.

Luciano’s is an ice cream shop with a space theme. Another ice cream shop they enjoyed and we went back to was Snow Monster.

La Nena did amazing churros and hot chocolate. It’s a mixture of chocolate shop, café and tearoom.

Thanks both. Some great suggestions. I think the Barcelona card seems like a good idea - sis you get it? Would you agree?

The card is convenient; it’s one less thing to worry about. It’s cost effective if you are catching a lot of transport and doing most of the main museums.

If you are there for a full week, I would highly recommend a day trip to Montserrat Abbey. It's easy to get to. There is a direct train which takes about 40 minutes and runs every hour.

From there you take either a funicular railway or a cable car up the mountain to the abbey (take one up and the other down). Between the abbey and the walking trails there is plenty to see and do for a full day.

Then when you get back to the station one of the locals has opened up a small bar in their back garden which backs onto the platform so you can have a beer while you wait for the train back to Barcelona.

Casa Gaudi, Gaudi Park and there is gorgeous art on the streets everywhere you look. We stayed at the Arts hotel on the beach. There's also an amazing fish restaurant on the beach called Fishers which do the best paellas.
