Corfu in June, where should we stay?

I'm going to Corfu in late June with my husband and almost 3 year old toddler.

I have absolutely no idea which hotel/resort/apartment to stay at, please help! So far I've booked a suite at the Domes of Corfu hotel on Glyfada beach, for around £3k half board. That's the maximum I want to pay for accommodation over a 5 day stay.

I like the hotel because it has a kids club, the suite has two rooms so we can put the toddler to bed early and relax in the other room, and food will be easy. My concerns though are that there might not be enough to do in the Glyfada area.

Could anyone who's been to Corfu with a toddler share where they stayed (area and hotel/apartment name) and if they'd recommend it?

Maybe I'm overthinking it and Glyfada/Domes of Corfu will be perfectly lovely, but I also don't want to go and miss out on a really nice area to stay.

Does it have to be half board?

Glyfada has enough going on, beach, shops, restaurants etc

What do you like to do? Chill most of the day by the pool/beach and go for walks etc or are you looking for bigger days out?

Will you be driving or staying put?

Forgottenmyphone · 09/03/2025 12:45

Most kids clubs in Greece don't take children under 4. You'll probably want to check that.

Notimeforaname · 09/03/2025 13:11

Maybe this place?
Has different options for rooms including family bungalows.
I just put for 5 nights,.end of June, all inclusive and it is in budget.

Its in Dassia on the east coast. Very close to Corfu town and a number of other places.
Has a kids club.

Thanks for the replies everyone!

To answer some questions:

  • it doesn't need to be half board, we just picked that option as it looked the best value for money at Domes of Corfu
  • we don't plan to hire a car, we'd like to just stay in the local area and have a very low key holiday, mix of being on the beach, by the pool, and having some things in walkable distance so we can just take a walk around the area, let the toddler run around.
  • Good shout on the kids club being for 4+, I'll check that out

My main concern was that glyfada wouldn't have enough locally to keep us happy staying put, but it sound so far like it'll be fine.

If anyone has any other recommendations feel free to shout out.

I would try to stick to the East and Northeast coast then.
Easy access to bus lines and other nearby seaside villages.

Roda is another nice area for families, on the north of the island.

This place has Family Premium rooms.
Just under €1800 for 5 nights , all inclusive.

I really like the family room with sharing pool for just over 2000

This one is 15 mins away from Corfu town and airport.on the east.

Lost of choice, up to 2 bed suites, all inclusive. Within budget.

I travelled to Glyfada on a motorbike one summer,we visited all the beaches in the west ( and did the north and east another year). It is probably the most beautiful beach in Corfu. What I remember is the sea becomes very deep quickly, within a meter and the water is cooler and more wild, lots of waves. The hotel is gorgeous but there is really very little going on apart from that and Glyfada is off the main road.
The east side is more pebbly, warm sea water with no waves and you have a main road going past most resorts.

Theres a Tui half board hotel in Sidari which people always rave about. I stayed self catering next to it. Sidari has some wonderful restaurants and a good beach.
Paleokastritsa is on a hill,we stayed at a hotel at the top so I wouldn't recommend but may be look at Messonghi or Dassia. Dassia is busier and you're also near to Corfu town.

We liked Agios Gordios with a toddler last year - it is still low key but had a lot more restaurants and a few supermarkets compared to Glyfada. Beach was fairly toddler friendly and just as nice as Glyfada which we visited for a day. Not many large resorts in the area so not a good option for a resort holiday. We stayed at Seabreeze which was right on the beach and had a small pool (we are more beach people than pool people).

We also stayed in Agios Georgios North which was nice too but more spread out and the water cooler. Kassiopi was nice too but the beach near the town was much less toddler friendly.

I did like the look of Domes of Corfu too but was also put off by the lack of shops and restaurants in the area.

Stromboluigi · 09/03/2025 21:16

Thanks everyone for the messages!

Interesting a few people have said there might not be enough in the Glyfada area. I'll look at places to stay in Agios Gordios and Dassia.

@Inlimboin50s it sounds like you've seen a lot of Corfu. Are there any specific areas you think would be best suited to our needs, and toddler friendly?

When my DS was 2 we stayed in Agios Gordios in Sea Breeze which is on the beach.

Theres no kids club but there’s a kids pool, it has its own taverna and from what I remember there were regular Greek nights/kids discos.

We went back again a few years later too.

I will say he’s 20 now so things could have changed since then but googling hotel it looks exactly how I remember it.

Stromboluigi · 09/03/2025 23:25

Thanks @TwistedWonder I just checked our dates and it looks like Sea Breeze is sold out! Nice looking hotel though, and right on the beach.

To be honest a lot of the larger hotels are based quite remotely so if kids club is key then it will be a more remote location. Glyfada is beautiful and a very popular beach a with few bars and restaurants however not a great deal in the resort itself. It is also only around a 30-45 minute transfer from the airport. There’s a new hotel being built this year called UNDA in Roda which looks beautiful and very reasonably priced and Roda itself has quite a lot of bars and restaurants and about 10 minutes walk from another resort Acharavi with more bars and restaurants and then about a ten minute taxi away is Sidari. Where there a lot more bars and restaurants again, and a small water park. The beach in Roda/Acharavi also has quite a good stretch of shallow sea which is good when taking small children with you. Bear in mind Sidari, Roda and Acharavi can all be around a 2hr transfer by coach and around 1hr-1hr 15 by taxi. There’s also a very large all inclusive hotel in Acharavi called Costa botanica which has almost a fake village inside so feels like lots of different bars and restaurants but within the hotel grounds. A water park and 3 additional pools all spread out and a kids club. Again this is not far from the main resort of Acharavi where there’s still lots of other things to do.

We stayed last year and it sounds pretty similar. We liked it and would go back. They have built some new apartment style rooms out the back so it may be a bit larger. Didn’t see any Greek nights or kids disco but it was in June. DD enjoyed the toddler pool and there was also a small playground but without shade so mostly too hot to use it

Inlimboin50s · 10/03/2025 22:16

I think if you chose Roda as a base to stay, then may be get a taxi to Acharavi and also Sidari during the five days as they're just up the road, you'll get a variety.
I've been to Sidari many times and took my son and 80yr old mother two years ago,the 'strip'in the eve is great fun with tribute bands and karaoke but you also have some fabulous fish restaurants and bars that back on to the beach. If your son would sleep in a buggy in the early eve,try it. Very family orientated there.
I'm also off to corfu end of June! It's my happy place and will be 10th time. I'm self catering in Pygri, near Ipsos. Just so I can walk to Dassia and also climb the hill behind where apparently there is an super restaurant!
For me,its good to explore and do a few excursions ( I go with Tui), if you would like to know the best ones just ask).

Inlimboin50s · 10/03/2025 22:22

Or Dassia. I arrived on moped and had a lovely swim and meal by the pavement by the beach,I'm just not sure there is enough to do there. But you do have Corfu town and lively Ipsos is just down the road.

I guess this is very variable depending on the year. Last year it was hot already in June with no rain. We were there for 3 weeks and there was a week in the middle where we really considered it too hot with our toddler and wished we had gone earlier. Didn’t see many mosquitoes although I was unfortunate to get in infected bite from some insect. DH and DD didn’t get any bites.

The previous year we visited Kefalonia in June and we did have a few days of rain and a few days of wind.

Stromboluigi · 11/03/2025 09:38

Oh no, not rain!!! Fingers crossed we get a dry 5 day trip.

Thanks for the tip on mosquitos, I'll pack plenty of repellant.

After everyone's comments I'm thinking we should stay in Dassia, which also sounds like it has easy access to Corfu Town. I'm just looking at options for accommodation now.

Greece had a summer long heatwave last year. Temperatures well above average.

We were in Lesvos in early June and it hit 40 degrees a couple of days. The locals were already complaining it was too hot a weeks into the season.

Ive seen others comment about mosquitoes in Corfu but must admit its not something we noticed
