Hi all,
Hoping to go to Adeje in Tenerife in May with my mobility-impaired mum, does anyone know somewhere central to stay? Close to beach, restaurants, shops etc.
Thanks!

Fanabe area is close to beach front and quite central :)

Will your mum have a wheelchair.
Fanabe is flatter but uphill to most hotels/apartments.
La pinta is more vibrant with entertainment in the bars
but not really wheelchair friendly.

Personally playa del las Americas is best for flatter areas.
Try around the patch area not Veronica's.
Look at parque Santiago 3 or 4.
Near shops, bars with entertainment, restaurants and close to the beach.

As @Introducingme points out the Costa Adeje area is hilly, basically all uphill from the beaches.
Though the pavements from the GF Isobel hotel down to the beach past the El Duque shopping circle are all new, and very smooth, it’s still up hill, steeper at the beach , less so by the Isobel hotel.

Whatever you do, don’t go to Los Gigantes!

GF Victoria is a lovely well located hotel, gentle 5 min slope down to the beach and various restaurants at Playa Del Duque.

Thanks so much for the info, so helpful, might rethink Adeje, sounds like the hills could be an issue for mum!

This might seem like a ridiculous piece of advice, but we’ve just come back from Costa Adeje and we saw a number of two person electric mobility scooters being used there.
They’re available for hire, but sorry, didn’t make a note of prices.

@tanstaafl not at all! that's a great idea I hadnt considered - thank you!

I was in Puerto de la Cruz in the north and lots of ppl hire mobility scooters; some even seat two!!

I second the GF Victoria. I was there in May with in-laws and my MIL's mobility is bad. She was able to walk to the beach and there's a nice shopping centre across the street with cafes and a supermarket. We got taxis to the main restaurant areas on different nights and that worked out fine - loads of taxis around. The GF Victoria also has lovely facilities so plenty of places to relax in the hotel itself. As another PP said, there's also lots of mobility scooters for hire. Costa Adeje, although hilly, is well set up for families and older people.

I stayed at Dreams Tropical Jardin years ago and it's right by the sea so no hill to get up, flat tarmac seafront type path in both directions giving good access in a scooter/wheelchair I'd have thought.
