I’m keen (amazingly) so is my son to have a weeks trip with me in late June post college end of term, he’s going away with friends to Spain in Aug so happy to head away with me before his trip. I need advice on destinations as I think he’ll get bored of a holiday in the sun with not much to see or do nearby. I don’t particularly want to hire a car so somewhere coastal but with things to see or do. Any recommendations for overseas please not the UK.

Malaga would be perfect .

Could already be going with his mates!

Copenhagen, Aarhus, or Gothenburg for cool Nordic vibes.
Pula in Croatia for sun and history.
Austrian Alps for activities - not coastal, but plenty of places have lakeside beaches or outdoor lidos.

West of Ireland!! I always say this because it's such a beautiful place and very multigenerational
Can fly to knock stay in Westport do fishing climb croagh Patrick have surfing lessons. Great food great nightlife
Whatever you chose have a wonderful time just watched the winners of race across the world mum and son team and thought what a lovely thing to do!!

I went recently and it was delightful but not a place to go without a car. That said you could drive all the way

I’d vote Barcelona or Nice
but consider Iceland and Berlin too

I went to Cuba with my late teen son, he loved it for the history and we travelled around a bit and did all the historic spots in Havana, and did a few days scuba diving school at the end. t was an amazing trip for both of us

Did you decide OP? I’d do Rome then train it out to the coast for a couple of days.

I did Brugges by Eurostar with my oldest who was 22 at the time

Oh & go to Ostend & ride the Coast Tram

Lisbon? Lots to do in the surrounding area, and possible to chill on the beach without travelling too far, although the Atlantic is quite chilly.

I’m guessing that if this is for next year, OP has everything booked now as it is almost “late June”. Where are you off to, OP?
