Taking a car seat in the hold of a plane

Can anyone confirm whether I can take my 20 month old daughter's car seat in the hold on an easyjet flight. When we booked the flight I could see on the website that this was possible but can't find the relevant page now so just hoping someone had some relevant recent experience.

Not sure about easyjet specificslly, but we take our daughter's seat in the hold on ryanair. Costs us a pretty penny though !!!!!

I'm not sure whether it is bad form to answer your own question but I thought someone out there might be interest in the official advice I have recieved from easyJet.

Car seats are carried for free and can be deposited either at check-in or as you arrive at the aircraft.

Even though you've answered it yourself already I just wanted to confirm that this is the case on pretty much all airlines, as far as I know. Usually, car seats and buggies don't count towards your luggage allowance.
