Brazil in August

Hi all

Im starting to think about options for summer 2026 ( only because I’d like to use companion vouchers, and our son will be 17 and want to go somewhere fab!), and looking at Brazil. Considering Rio, Iguazu Falls, Paraty and Ilha Grande. Has anyone been at this time of year and was the weather ok? Anywhere else we should go while we’re there? Or anywhere else you think may be better? We are a family of 3 who love to travel, previous hits have been Borneo, Peru, Mexico, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Canada, Iceland, Jordan, Japan and safari. I have thought about Tanzania and Zanzibar and Indonesia but I travelled through Indonesia and we’ve been to Bali before. We aren’t just sit on a beach type people, would like to have a few days relaxing but want to see and do things as well.
thanks in advance!

Looks like it will still be warm despite being winter there, and a good time to go.

You’ll have a fab time. Iguazu Falls is just out of this world.

We are heading to Brazil 2026, but I’d also recommend Tanzania. We loved it and the migration camp in the north was spectacular. Stone Town in Zanzibar was also amazing. It was up there with Peru and Borneo/Komodo for me.

Hi @DingDingRound3 hmm! My main reason for preferring the sound of Brazil
is that we’ve done a couple of safaris ( which were phenomenal) and not sure it would have the same wow! It’s def on my list but maybe in a few years time. Great to know it compared to Borneo and Peru, also 2 of our favourite places!

Hi - we are also considering Brazil for summer 2026 (family of four). I have been told that the weather should be ok at that time - mid to high 20s and for beaches best to go to the Northeast where it will be dry at that time of year. OP - are you planning to use a travel agent or DIY? I usually book everything myself but wondering whether to use an agent for this trip as there would a lot internal travel involved and I'm not sure where to begin!

We were in Iguazú and Rio in August 2023. Weather was perfect for walking about. One day or absolutely torrential rain but I managed to go out in the evening for a swim and the beaches were so much nicer than on a dry day.

We'd been in Argentina for 10 days previously and I much preferred it to Brazil. However, it is further south so the weather is less predictable (we were incredibly lucky) and the current President is basically Trump's twin.

We found it very different to the safari we did in Namibia, as that was much more fenced reserves and felt less ‘wild’. The best bit was wild camping in the Serengeti, then a migration camp, that was mind blowing. We have also done a smaller safari in Sri Lanka, but again a very different vibe.

I agree though a few years between animal centric holidays is needed. We want to go to Botswana, but need a gap.

I can’t wait to go to Brazil though, so don’t blame you!

Has anyone been to Praia do Forte or Jericoacora? Interested to hear about what these are like.

Hi @FMH
we will book it ourselves for sure! I read that it’s better weather in the south coast ie Ilha Grande etc but must admit I’ve literally just started looking so more research def needed!!

@SpanThatWorld I’ve been to Argentina with work and loved Buenos Aires but a it’s super expensive and b yes to Trumps twin 🤣. Think we’ll stick with Brazil for now and do the Argentinian side of the falls!

thanks for replying all!
