As title really. Dh,me, and 16 year old ds would like a 3 night break in Belgium, thinking about Ghent. We would go on Eurostar and then train from Brussels. Would love to hear recommendations of things to do, hotels, and places to eat please.

We really liked Ghent - I’d been to Bruges loads of times but preferred Ghent for longer than a day trip. It did rain a lot but it’s small so easy to get from place to place and lots of nice bars to drop into!

In Antwerp you can walk through a tunnel under the river and on the other side there is a cafe and mini golf plus good views back to the city. Good shops in Antwerp as well and the Middleheim Sculpture Museum is quite fun a bit further out of the city centre.

Yes it's lovely. Best lobster I've ever eaten was there ;).
Also nearly brugge.
Beautiful

Ghent is beautiful, quirky and was very popular with our teens. We did two days in Ghent, a day in Antwerp and a day in Bruges staying in Pillows boutique hotel. Boat trips in all were great, loved the castle and museum in Ghent, shopping in Ghent and Antwerp, Antwerp zoo, the Chocolate story Bruges as well as the beer experience.

Ghent:
Quick food - Wasbar Ghent is a curious laundrette/bagel shop. It was recommended to us and we tried it with trepidation, it was ace!
Bookz N' Booze does what it says on the door... amazing international book and booze selection including their own small batch gin.
Roots is Michelin guide with a decent value lunch - €50ph if looking for a treat but pre book.
Stek is a wander out of the city centre for brunch/coffee - on the way to the station for train to Antwerp or Bruges - beautiful little courtyard.

Bruges: Sanservia for brunch/lunch - not to be missed.
2be beer hall - small beer flights, family friendly, beautiful terrace on the water.

Antwerp: we had a picnic at the zoo.

We love Ghent, for all the reasons people say.
Bruges is good for a day trip, out of season.
Antwerp isn't attractive, but there's lots of interest to see. The station is amazing.
But our favourite is Mechelen. Not that I'd tell anyone...
