Featherdown-Not my idea as an adult for relaxing but great for kids. they can be noisy, roam around a farm and kids usually love the tent aspect.
I take hot water bottles, thermos flasks and back up camping hob. We would go out to dinner or lunch most days so not toomuch cooking.

Caravan holiday park in the UK. Loads of activities, they can eat food they like, and you can stay up when they are in bed. Most little tots just want a playground, to splash about in the shallow end of a swimming pool, and picnics. And to spend time with you.

You haven't got to worry about flights or sunburn and all that guff, and you can pick one within an easy driving distance.

The Isle of Wight was recommended to me by a colleague when mine were little and we did love it. Nice beaches, railway, kid friendly attractions but all low key and not stressful feeling.

Eden resort Portugal was fabulous with our 2 year old and also recommended HD Parque cristobal in gran canaria. Both totally geared up to littles but is adults had a lovely time too. Flight time not too long for either, not far the other end from the airport either which is great in my book. Plenty to do both in and out resort and great all inclusive so no cooking, cleaning, food shopping.

U.K. caravan park. One without too long a drive and plenty of tiny kid friendly activities. Best holidays we had with little kids.

if you want abroad I’d go for Euro camp. Somewhere easily accessible and not too long a drive.

Majorca in early June. Warm enough to swim, play at the beach and explore but not hot.

We always did self-catering, I hated hotels when DD was small. We just did breakfast at the villa, did some trips, had a nap, went to the beach/played in the pool, ate out or had some bread/cheese/meats at the villa.

Child in bed - DH and I on the terrace with drinks and snacks.

I had a washing machine, so no issues with spills, there was a dishwasher so no washing up, no cleaning at the end required.

Scott Dunn, hands down the best kids clubs

Mousses with Simpson Travel. Perfect at that age

We did either Eurocamp or Gite complexes pretty much when dd was small (with some city breaks). Separate bedrooms (with black out blinds), kitchen with mod cons, pools and playgrounds to tire them out, the odd day out to a zoo or castle and maybe a bit of baby disco, before popping her to bed and drinking wine on a terrace. We live abroad though so easy to fling things in the car and drive. I never did lots of cooking - one of the big horrors people have of self catering. Takeaways, eating out, ready prepared stuff from supermarket. Fresh bread, salad, nibbly bits. We might have knocked up the occasional pasta dish.

Antalya resort. They have kids club, toddler classses, kiddie disco. All inclusive. Sun, sea.

Spain, in September, anywhere all inclusive with a kids club/ mini disco. We really enjoyed the insotel punta Prima in Menorca with a 2 year old. Too young for the actual kids club, but you can take them and supervise, kids disco, entertainment, nice food, a splash area as well as a mini pool, beach 5 minutes walk away.

When mine were that age it was Eurocamp in France or Holland , P&O cruises from Southampton or weekend camping trips in our tent.

Eurocamp was just so easy as there is so much for the kids to do during the day and once they had gone to bed DH and I would relax on the deck with cheese and wine. Go in May or June so not too hot.

Cruises were a revelation to me. I really didn't want to go on the first one but it was arranged by the in-laws as a family celebration so had no choice. I was converted very quickly. The kids clubs are amazing and I remember feeling more relaxed on those holidays than I'd felt since before having kids.

Camping trips - find a pitch within sight of the kids play area , set up tent . Put out chairs, open wine and pick up fish and chips. BBQ on other days. We started with long weekends and graduated to two week trips as they got older. I miss it now they are grown up.
