Last minute break for Feb half term

Assuming I have left it too late but struggling due to DH and DS18 and DD12 and their total indecision about holiday and so I have done nothing about organising it.

They agree they somewhere not too far, but abroad.
They don't want to sit by the beach or be too hot
They hate sitting around doing nothing
They do want activities/interesting things to do but not necessarily just museums

I feel I'm looking for the impossible to keep them all happy when they are all so non-committal. We promised DD we'd go to Iceland at some point but due to bereavement and other family issues that's not happened and might be better to do in future. I haven't been abroad in over 20 years and we've never really had a proper family holiday so it's all new to us.

Can anyone recommend a reputable 'last minute' type place or give me confidence that booking everything separately myself won't be a nightmare!? I don't even know where to start!

Bit of an odd time of year to go based on your comments, is there a reason you were looking for February half term?

Budget will also come into it massively.

Would Easter or May half term be an option instead?

Portugal. About 20C and fly to Faro, plenty to see.

Booking separately can work fine, particularly for city breaks and as long as have good travel insurance in place, but if you haven't been abroad for so long it may not always be best option. A package may give you some more comfort.

We do both, depending on what type of holiday we are going for.

If you haven’t been abroad in 20 years do you all have passports?

get the ferry to France or the Netherlands and do a center parcs

Thanks, these are all helpful and reassuring. Yes, we have passports etc, just not ever used!!

We're committed to going in Feb as DH had promised DD to go other school hols and then we've had to not go for various reasons.

I hadn't thought of Portugal so will take a look at that.

If you want some warmer temperatures you need to go south, but make sure resort towns are already open, your safest bet would be Canaries or Cyprus.

I would look for a city break with things to do outside sightseeing, it's won't be beach weather but definitely warmer. And things will be open, more choices for restaurants.
Barcelona
Lisbon and a short train ride to the coast

Last-minute skiing holiday in the Alps? If you are beginners you could all take lessons together, and all equipment can be hired at the resort.

I always book my holidays last minute through on the beach and have never had any problems

Seville with day trips to Cordoba, Jerez and Cadiz ?

I always recommend Stockholm for really good city break holidays. Loads to do. Do you want a full week away? Copenhagen is also great. Both of them are good starting points for the wider countries too so you can explore anything that interests you.

So many great suggestions, I've got lots of research to do - thanks so much!

We're not worried about warmer weather, cold is ok with us, Stockholm sounds like it might be really interesting.

Having not been away before it's all quite daunting but I'm sure it's do-able.

I like the skiing idea but not sure DH would survive - I might run it past him though as you never know!
