portugal developed country will have everything. just think about what you'd want to take if you were going on holiday to somewhere in UK like brighton

I'm going to Portugal in June too! (first time family holiday with 15mo)

Have been told to take 'emergency' pack in hand luggage in case real luggage lost so at least LO has a change of clothes and some milk etc.
Was also going to pack sandwiches in suitcase (!!!! I know it sounds mad) but, as we land about 7pm and then have a coach transfer he'll be starving.
I'm only taking a days worth of nappies though, as you can buy them there and they are heavy in luggage. Also, am taking washing tablets for machine so I won't have to take tons of clothes and I can jut do a wash or two.

Mothercare have a travel steriliser for the microwave at £7.99 or plastic bags you can sterilise bottles in which are £6 for 10 I think and have the tablet in there already, but I was just going to buy a box of sterilising tablets for £1.99 and use an ice cream tub or something to do it. (I know, I don't have to be sterilising bottles but I can't break the habit)
Have also got a shade-a-babe thing for the buggy so I can take him out at night and he can sleep in his buggy. And have got a buggy bag for the plane so I don't have to worry about buggy getting wrecked in the hold.
Am also taking reighns for when we land etc as, the buggy may not be first off and after 2 hrs on my lap I am sure he'll want a toddle.

I'm very aware I sound like Queen of a PFB here!

Finally I'm taking lots of organix snack bars as apparently on the continent they don't hav e a big choice of baby snack bars.

Where are you going?
We are off to Alvor for the first week in June.

Don't worry about buying travel sterilisers, waste of money and space, especially for an 8mth old - (there is actually another thread on here about sterilising not actually being strictly necessary...... but that's another topic for discussion!)
How about you just take sterilising tablets with you if you want to sterilise stuff. Far less space taken up.

Just take a load of Goodies bars, as already suggested, also Ella's Kitchen squeezy juices are good too, for any age, boxes of raisins, food is always good to occupy small children!!
Just some wipes, enough nappies for the journey and first day there.
Re toys and things, an 8mth old will play with anything, so no need to weigh yourself down with all sorts of gadgets! And the 3.5yr old will surely just enjoy the plane ride in itself! My 3yr old certainly LOVES going on the plane, and gets more and more exciteable the older he gets!

You really don't need that much stuff tbh. You're on holiday, so just enjoy not having to worry about too much! Have fun!

We are off to Priare De Vau (pardon the bad spelling) second week of june...cant wait!

Thanks bergentulip I will get sterilising tabs(even though i dont sterilise her bottles here anymore but think i will when abroad just to be safe...silly i know!).Will also pack a few treats too, for the kids and us
