Suggestions for Montreal?

We're going to visit family in New Brunswick in July, but will be flying into Montreal. We arrive into Montreal in time for lunch, and then have a full day the day after.

Hotel booked is a central one (I think - Best Western Ville Marie).

Any suggestions for things to do/places to see/eat?

TIA.

Are you travelling with kids? You can find plenty of activities at the Old Port, including jet boating on the river and down the Lachine Rapids which is great fun. Our kids absolutely loved that activity. Restaurants in Old Montreal are very good.

Ooooh. We loved Montreal. My favourite city in North America to date.

Walk up the mountain, is an obvious one! It's a nice walk from the city centre, and the view at the top is great. And then there's loads of walking at the top.

There were loads of great neighbourhoods to walk through/visit. We walked MILES when we were there. We also went to a couple of great exhibitions, but they were visiting ones rather than permanent.

There were great places to eat in the old part of the city - all kinds of cuisine, but lots of French influence.

It was just a great city to walk around, explore and chill out in.

Well I’d still recommend the jet boating. I loved it 😁.

We live in Montreal. July is a lovely time to visit. I’d suggest a trip up to Mount Royal and a stroll around Plateau Mont-Royal (good places for lunch).
Notre-Dame Basilica is definitely worth looking at. There are also free walking tours which take you around Old Montreal.

Thank you Smile

Very excited. I've been to NB several times now, to visit family over the years, and went to Montreal to see Expo, a gazillion years ago! So I'm looking forward to seeing somewhere a bit different.

If it's your kind of thing- the holocaust museum is amazing. There are images there I'll never forget.

Resurrecting this thread as it’s now only a few days before we travel.

Anyone have any recommendations for restaurants, for dinner? DH & I eat pretty much anything but DS isn’t a great fan of fish. (A shame, because we were recommended a lobster restaurant which sounded lovely)

Don’t mind spending money, but not stupid money!

TIA.

L’auberge du Dragon Rouge is a very fun themed dining experience. You’ll probably be there for the circus festival which starts on July 3rd. Definitely check it out if you’ve time.
