AI and other people's kids

We (dd10, ds9, dh, me) usually do a villa with a pool for peace and quiet or a city break for food and culture.

We've never been AI but fancy trying it this year as the children are keen.

My worst nightmare is trying to eat a meal if there are families around with kids watching screens. Can I avoid this at a certain price point? Or is this just modern life in a family hotel?

Also lol at the idea that there's no difference in behaviour at different price points. Completely delusional.

Take it that you’re never been anywhere like this @Nellyelephanty ?

What a chavvy resort or Mauritius?

tbh have done both

@Dandylione I have lived in three European countries in the last decade and travelled extensively both with and without children and have personally found it to be predominantly a British thing, if you haven’t that’s fine but it doesn’t mean people are not as well travelled as you

Guessing you’ve not had much interaction with Russian families on holiday

RobinPenguins · 25/01/2025 17:33

You’ll hate it. You should definitely stay away from other people. Your kids wanting to try it isn’t a good enough reason to subject yourselves to the horror of someone else’s toddler watching an iPad in your vicinity.

Mamofteenager · 25/01/2025 17:38

Some hotels offer a mix of all inclusive and self catering. This could be better for you as your DCs could utilise the entertainment and meet other children but you could go to your apartment and/or eat out at smaller restaurants of your choosing

Chypre · 25/01/2025 17:39

Some kids will be eating with screens, some will be immaculately behaved, fluent in 3 languages including the local one and screen free. And some will be asking out loud something like “mummy, why is that lady not dressed for dinner?” while clearly staring at you.

Paradisus in Mexico. Never saw any kids with screens who weren't using headphones. You also don't have to share tables with other families.

@Coffeeguru81 I don't know if you are meaning it but you're coming across as a tiresome know it all.

Rather than asking supercilious questions, share your knowledge to the lower classes who haven't had interaction with Russian families, or been to 'Sani' or Mauritius...

Well I did if you had read all my tiresome posts 😆
