Anyone done a cycling holiday?

Would like to go somewhere warm in March and do a bit of cycling (hiring e-bikes). Maybe one where we go to different places each day. I know there are some companies that offer as a package but thinking we could plan ourselves. Would prefer off road/quiet roads. Any suggestions please?

I havn't used them, but Cycming for Softies are well known and well respected in this field. I know people who have used them several times, very happily.

Thanks - they look really good but quite expensive and was wondering if we could work something out ourselves - just wanted a good route and then maybe we could find somewhere to hire bikes and sort out our own accommodation.

Have done group holidays organised by Company (overseas) and also organised our own trips (UK) - both were good experiences. Where were you thinking of going?

Thanks @mummersintheattic . Maybe Portugal, Spain or the south of France - somewhere warm.

We have cycled in France and Italy, and I loved both trips.
I can thoroughly recommend the Dordogne and Tuscany, we spent 6 days cycling in the Dordogne and 7 in Tuscany (around rest days).
If you're interested, my trips are on Komoot so potentially you can see what our route was. We saw e-bikes in both places, although we were on road bikes and bike packed. Do NOT let anyone talk you into getting massive panniers for your stuff, you never need all that nonsense if you stay in hotels each night like we did. I would not cycle and camp because I like a good shower and comfy bed each night Grin

Went on a holiday through Headwater in France. Cheaper than cycling for softies.

DS has done a few cycling holidays in Europe either with his partner or a friend. He's always taken his own road bike and booked accommodation himself. He is very meticulous and plans out each route very carefully taking into account any hilly routes and adjusting the amount of miles cycled each day accordingly.
Last year they cycled through 7 countries in 16 days.
This year DS and partner are cycling through France.
DS travels light with a couple of sets of cycling clothes, waterproofs,a pair of lightweight trainers, changes of underwear , couple of t shirts and a pair of shorts.
He also uses Kamoot or Wahoo so we can track his progress each day.

Mallorca is great for cycling holidays. Late March should be warm enough (I usually go 2nd week of April) but maybe a little changeable. Stay somewhere like Porte Pollença and hire e-bikes, You have the choice of flat routes, or some iconic climbs if you fancy trying Cap de Formentor or into the mountains. The hire companies have maps and routes available.

Have a look at InnTravel - they put together all sorts of tours/holidays and have something for everyone. I was really impressed with their customer service and the level of detail they go in to.

We cycled and camped along the Canal du Midi one year - as we were camping we did have panniers but it was manageable. Parts of the tow path are fab, but parts are very rutted and with tree roots making it bumpy. If you can book accommodation and don't need anyone to transport your bags from place to place, it's much cheaper to sort it yourself.
