Booking holiday with On the Beach

Apologies if this has already been posted about numerous times. Looking to book an All Inclusive Holiday (probably in Spain) this summer and would prefer a package deal. Previously booked with Jet2 and tui but I think On the Beach look a bit cheaper for the same/similar holidays. If you’ve used them, would you recommend?

No idea if this is relevant, I see they are ATOL but not ABTA

On the Beach are good value if all goes smoothly but a nightmare if it doesn't. You would NOT be booking a package through them, the flights and accommodation are separate so you don't have package holiday protection. Up to you whether you want to take that risk.

Viavitaperro · 23/01/2025 01:24

Err, I've booked with On The Beach for years. Full deal. I've had package deals from as cheap as £250 all in ( last year Nerja, Turkey, Benidorm). I'll continue booking with them. No problems ever.

HolidayHattie · 23/01/2025 01:24

Actually I may be wrong about that; ignore my previous post.

I mean package in terms of I’m not having to look about for flights myself separately. I’ve always been dubious about them but when seeing they were a bit cheaper I thought maybe be worth a try. Going by what you’re both saying I’ll be best sticking with Jet2. I hate having the responsibility of booking and it’s been a few years since we managed abroad.

@Viavitaperro is it straightforward to book? I’m a bit old-fashioned and would rather speak to someone on the phone with my (probably stupid ) questions as I’m a bit out of the loop with holidays.

What I've found when I've been comparing deals is that on the face they look cheaper but while Jet2 and tui include transfers and luggage etc, on the beach don't, so once you start adding those on the cost goes up.

cherrycherryblossom · 23/01/2025 01:42

@Eminybob I’ve just checked and you’re right, would add another £400+ to the price to add hold luggage per person per flight.

I suppose you could look at EasyJet.

try and see if you can find the same holiday i.e. dates / location / hotel and compare all 3 companies - go as far as almost booking as that way you will have added luggage and transfers etc.

and check the flight times :) as one may be much earlier or later than the others.

cherrycherryblossom · 23/01/2025 02:18

@OlderGlaswegianLivingInDevon Yes I’ll definitely need to shop about. If I was more of a seasoned holiday-maker I’d have no qualms booking it all separately and getting the cheapest deals but at least with a package everything is covered.

Well, I've never had any problems. I see from your previous posts though that you might want to book luggage etc. I never do - I travel with ryanair, or easy jet and only have carry on luggage.
I've honestly never had any problems. People are astounded that I pay £200 minimum for a 5 day holiday. I went to Tenerife not long ago for a month, £1200 !
I admit I'm easily pleased ! But I only need a return flight, basic accommodation. I'm out hiking most days.

I hope you don't meet that ill mannered kid on the advert

cherrycherryblossom · 24/01/2025 12:17

Thanks everyone for the replies - have now booked with tui.

I wouldn't book with OTB again- you do book your own flights with Ryanair - they send you the link and a voucher to use for payment. Both hotels I booked were rank, and one was meant to be a four star. Never again.
