We are looking at travelling to Doha as a couple, staying for one week, and wondered if anyone had any recommendations or advice on what to do when we are there.

Thank you

Why doha? Sounds awful

Doha is a great holiday place for fly/flop, fabulous hotels , never crowded. Not an awful lot to do outside the hotels but museum of Islamic art and the Corniche park are both worth a look. The National museum was still being built last time we were there so can’t speak to that. If you can time your trip to coincide with the winter tennis tournament that is good fun.

@VanCleefArpels that’s great, thank you.

It's fine for a 24/48 hour layover. I'd be bored after three days.

We went for three days en-route to another country and we really enjoyed it. What time of year are you going? We went in August and it was unbearably hot. I like the heat but this was something else. We could only be outside for very short periods. One time, after being outside for ten minutes I started to feel dizzy.
We stayed at the Sheritan and it was wonderful. Talk about luxury!
We did a bus tour of the city and that was very interesting. I'd highly recommend it. We were in an air conditioned bus and had short stops in each place.
The national museum and Islamic museum were excellent. Well worth a visit.
The Souk is a must see (we did this as part of our bus tour).
The Katara Hills area is very nice. There are lots of good restaurants there. We went in the evening and walked around when it was slightly cooler.
Lusail is the new city with the world cup stadium.
The Metro is cheap and easy but we got Ubers everywhere as it was too hot to walk. Ubers were great and much cheaper than here.
It felt incredibly safe.
It's definitely worth a visit. Given the heat I think it's a place to relax rather than doing lots of things each day.

We’ve only been in winter when it is really lovely temps. Recommend Regis and Four Seasons hotels, truly excellent proper luxury with lots of food options

We are going for 4 nights in 2 weeks so some useful ideas here. Our first night we don't arrive until midnight so doesn't really count. Bus tour sounds great.

I haven’t been myself but have family out there. It’s super safe, clean and they’re very welcoming to tourists.

A bit soulless apparently and obviously there are issues with the way immigrant labourers have been treated.

I saw pics of Mina district the other day - loads of beautiful pastel coloured buildings with murals on the walls. Great for photo opportunities. Enjoy!

Thanks so much for all your advice & feedback.
We had been looking at September /October, but it does look as though it’s possibly too hot then & better to hold off until it’s a little cooler.

I wouldn’t want to spend a week there but it’s fine for a 1-2 day layover. Last time I was there in July and had a suite at the Shangri-La. I found the July heat fine (but I used to live in Asia so I’m used to it) and I walked or got Uber everywhere. I enjoyed the Islamic Museum where I had the biggest piece of carrot cake I’ve ever seen in my life. A very unexpected surprise! I made an effort to dress very conservatively when I was outside the hotel and was told by several locals that it was appreciated (they assumed I was an expat rather than a tourist).
