Very silly question about Ryanair

I have a very silly question about Ryanair…..

I want to book 4 adult tickets for me, Dh & adult children.

I am intending on booking one suitcase in the hold and one priority boarding with two cabin bags and all sharing the cases. So two people with luggage and two without.

I assume this is allowed? 😂

It is, but only the one person booked on priority will get to pick seat/ board first

Ihatemondays1962 · 14/01/2025 19:29

Yes that's fine, you just add the number of bags once you have confirmed the flight times, think it's the next page of the booking process.

ThatLemonPanda · 14/01/2025 19:29

You just show no baggage for all but priority then add one bag at end

TheDowagerCountessofPembroke · 14/01/2025 19:31

Yes. I’ve done it before. The only thing is that priority board first so some will get on before others.

sandrapinchedmysandwich · 14/01/2025 19:32

Oh god op. Ryan Air are a nightmare for this. What we have found we need to do is to book separate tickets in separate transactions as the system automatically adds a suitcase on for each person. Then with the suitcase you choose your seat but with the basic package you can't. Which doesn't matter for us as we are both adults but what does matter is that you can't check in for the return flight until 24 hours before which means spending your last day trying to source a printer. So we always then pay to select a seat for the basic package as then you can check in and print boarding passes before you go. Though they might allow e tickets now maybe?

Mostunexpected · 14/01/2025 19:33

We figured out how to only add a suitcase for one person, but couldn’t figure out how to have priority for only one person so we gave up and did 2 separate bookings

Georgyporky · 14/01/2025 19:33

The only silly question about Ryanair is "Is the CEO a nice person ?"

It’s never made me do this? I’ve just added all with a small bag only, then added one case at the end… and you can just check in and board using the app?

Frankiedear · 14/01/2025 19:37

Yes, we do this all the time, when ds was a child they used to let me board priority too with him ( but not the bag) now he is older, he just goes first. It is quite tricky to do at first but yes you can do it.

Maybe I need some lessons on the Ryan Air app then because whenever I have tried it only gives the option for 2 suitcases for 2 people and never just one. The whole app gives me the rage, yet I keep going back 😵‍💫

fitflop · 14/01/2025 19:42

Thank you all!

It seems fairly straightforward to book.
I am putting no bags for 2, one hold case for me and two cabin bags for DH. Then selected 4 seats there and back for £8 each. It doesn’t seem cheaper to do the priority “package”.

It does seem the most cost effective way for 4 adults to take some form of a case. We just all share.

I’m not on the app mind. Just their website.

I've never had an issue either and I do it through the website. For sports competitions I've booked various combos of no bags/one bag each/suitcase between three people and never had problems. I've also always been able to print both boarding cards before we went

Jellyslothbridge · 14/01/2025 19:44

Can't remember which airline we had this issue, but to get around this we have made two separate bookings one with bags and boarding and one without.

fitflop · 14/01/2025 19:46

We’re not fussed about boarding early etc - Will just send DH with the cabin bag.

I assumed like BA the boarding pass would be on your phone? Is this not the case?

Yes, no need for a printer now, you can just show them the boarding pass from the ap on your phone.

I think the problem is we don't always have internet when we are away. Unless you can take the passes offline somehow?

loadypoady · 14/01/2025 19:50

Yes the boarding pass is on your phone and we always take one hold bag and one cabin which has priority boarding. The priority boarder just hangs back and boards with the the other passenger. There is room in the overhead cabins for the case but if you want to be sure it’s near where you sit then utilise the priority boarding and go on separately.

fitflop · 14/01/2025 19:51

I generally save them in my iPhone wallet.

OP posts:
RobinHood19 · 14/01/2025 19:54

Ryanair have been offering mobile boarding passes for about a decade (I still have some from 2016 in my wallet). You need internet / WiFi to check-in obviously, but then you can save the pass in your wallet app, and you’ll be able to access it whenever you want, connection or not.

For the PP who said that you can’t book different packages within a group - that is correct, but you can select the basic fare for all passengers then add individual suitcases / luggage options later on. It always works out cheaper this way, don’t take the bait of buying an inclusive package on the first page or app screen.

fitflop · 14/01/2025 19:56

This is all so helpful. Thank you.
We generally fly BA but only because I find their package holidays are such good prices.

You only need to pay a deposit, so if you change your mind no big deal, get Avios points and all
luggage is included but their flights to Seville are crap and from Gatwick 🤣

If you're worried about WiFi, while at Home Screen shot your boarding pass and add it to your photos, you can use this.

I often book for me and my mum, she's not very tech savvy so I screen shot her boarding pass, send it to her as a photo on WhatsApp, she saves the photo to her album, then she uses the photo when she needs to show her boarding pass. Been doing this for years now, never had a problem.

Yes I was fiddling around with it and it is definitely cheaper to put no bags for everyone then on next page add on what you want and select the seats.

Are there any suggestions for what £8 seats to select?

A seat on any plane that is not run by Ryanair , I’d rather not go than fly with them ever again .
