City break southern Europe mid October

DH and I are looking to go away mid October for a couple of days (4-5). Either a town with a direct airport or close nearby.

How weather secure is Barcelona? No need for sunbathing but some warm-ish dry weather is needed.

Not Rome or Florence and no France and Portugal either.

We love history, wandering around a nice town, cafe culture, some shopping. Happy to hire a car for a day to venture a bit further out.

Only been to Barcelona twice - once in a May, once in a September. Got flooded out both times.

That’s not what I hoped to hear! But based on the flooding last year in Valencia I am not sure it won’t happen.

What's wrong with Lisbon? More history, better weather.

Classee · 13/01/2025 16:10

I've been to Barcelona before at the start of November and it was really hot.

The weather should be nice in Barcelona but for some reason the city didn’t appeal to me at all. How about Athens?

Printedword · 13/01/2025 16:12

Cordoba, Granada, Seville

Sunnnybunny72 · 13/01/2025 16:18

Seville ❤️

Nothing but we are going in July already.

Madrid?
Art galleries, archaeological museum, culture, flamenco, cafe society, great food, evening promenading, street market, shopping, city park.

And a day trip to Toledo.

Weather is mild and sunny in October, (tends to rain and be cold in Nov/Dec).

Cordoba, Granada, Seville

Hm, Granada sounds good. Quite a long time since we have been there.

Of the 3, it was my least favourite

TheDogsMother · 13/01/2025 16:26

I've been to Alicante twice in November and the weather was 25 degrees. To be fair we went because it was 25 degrees, not that it's always 25 degrees in November ! I've also been to Malaga and Seville at that time of year and had great weather.

Palermo? Lots to do and see, on the coast, good temperature and airport to city centre is within an hour.

We were in Seville not too long ago. So I wouldn’t put this on top of my list.

Cordoba is as long ago as Granada but i can’t remember much so I may need to check again.
not sure about flights though.
