Oct half term - warmth but not package

So we always go away Oct half term to somewhere like Tenerife or Lanzarote. This year the package deal prices are astronomical.

So instead I'm pondering booking everything separate and heading somewhere warm enough to sit and enjoy sunshine maybe pool for the kids for a few days when it's nice or maybe beach with some other stuff around to occupy other days prob for 5 ish days.

Kids are pre teen + we'll have a 1 year old. So not quite city break, not quite sunning ourselves by a pool the whole time.

Any suggestions? Just can't spend £3.5k to get us somewhere for the week like we used to.

Have you thought about Luxor?
Im taking my kids there in March for 5 days, just booked flights and hotel with breakfast
lovely pool and pyramids

Well you could still do Lanzarote or Tenerife , just book flights and apartment separately.
Malaga? That's a lovely city on the coast, not sure I'd do that with a one year old myself but it's a mix of both.

Anywhere on the Med would fit the bill. South of France is lovely, and you can drive yourselves there and keep the costs down

At the end of October Costa del Sol - or the Algarve will still be pleasantly warm. flight times are short. Check out cheap flights first and then have a look at booking an apartment/hotel via booking.com or Air Bnb.

The Canaries will of course be warm but you might struggle now to get cheap flights especially as it's half term.

As a previous poster suggested - drive down to south of France? Will be warm enough I think, although check out costs of channel crossing+ fuel+ tolls. Can be high. We paid about £250 in tolls alone last summer.

It's just a case of playing with dates to see what you can find.

School holidays are always notoriously expensive though so keep trying
