I've been tasked to organise this and I have no idea where to even look! Is this where travel agents come into play or is there somewhere I can look online?

It would be for a range of people aged 1-70 and somewhere not further than 4 hours away by flight. I'm completely stumped as to how to tackle this so any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Oh, I should have said that it would ideally be a resort/half board or inclusive type situation!

The easiest way to do it is find a hotel
Somewhere you all like and do all inclusive. That way, whilst together, there is a bit of freedom. Finding a villa would be a nightmare.

MidnightPatrol · 12/01/2025 16:43

What kind of budget?

We hired a villa for ~20 which came with a chef, which was good for a big group / limited self catering and was actually quite affordable.

We're an easyjet/booking.com holiday family but the number of people this time exceeds their limits so I'm feeling a bit lost Confused

Try booking as two groups of 12 - that should enable you to get an idea of accommodation. Then get in touch with hotel/villa company directly.

Pillon · 12/01/2025 16:47

Budget is a good question! I don't think it would need to be on a shoestring - whatever was mid-level is probably what everyone would be happy with. Sorry, it's not really a proper answer but I'll check to see what people had in mind and come up with a more definitive figure!

Jet2 have a group booking helpline. https://www.jet2holidays.com/group-holidays

Bit out there but in some cruise Facebook groups they often have big family groups going?

We are going away with my school friends for a joint 40th, 5 couples and assorted kids. We are all doing an all inc package to the same hotel and each family booked separately with Tui/easyjet/Jet2 as all flying from different airports and have different budgets- some people happy to pay more to not do a 5am flight for example.

Pillon · 12/01/2025 16:52

We considered cruises actually but sea-sicknesses affects some of the family badly so I don't think it would work. It would've been ideal otherwise though I think!

The other thing I should have mentioned is that the main bulk of the holiday will be quite short - around 4 days potentially - which is adding to my confusion as to how to pull this off. Some might stay longer etc but I think it'll only be a fairly short time that everyone will be togeher.

It's probably best to call the tour operator as they will make sure you maximise free places for kids etc. also if it's all on one booking and there's a flight change or hotel change you will all be moved together. I used to be a TRAVEL agent and that's what I would do. Find the Hotel you want and how many people flying from which airport, dates room types etc and let them cost it and book it.n

Does it have to be abroad if it’s a short break?

We usually do it in England but having it abroad was pitched and went down surprisingly well with everyone so we're giving it a go! I've got a back up location in England in case it doesn't work out though Blush

Anywhere that hosts weddings would be able to co ordinate you easily. Probably best calling rather than trying to book online.
Make sure the names are all as on the passports!

Airfriedpants · 12/01/2025 19:06

We travelled with 28 of us and went to a club med

LaPalmaLlama · 12/01/2025 19:09

What I would do would be to identify a hotel somewhere with daily flights and then get everyone to book their rooms and flights directly. It will be so much easier. Otherwise with differing dates it’s going to be an admin nightmare.

JoyousPinkPeer · 12/01/2025 19:43

Just book a package. Jet2 or Tui perhaps. You need an agreed budget per adult, per child.
Be careful, if booking in yoyr name you are financially liable.

Grapesandcheseseplease · 12/01/2025 19:46

What time of year and what sort of holiday? I’d also, as above, look at booking two groups of 12.

If your budget would stretch to it, https://www.clublasanta.co.uk has a lot to offer, for a very wide range of ages and interests. World class sport, every social sport I have ever hear of, really lovely spa facilities.

Mild, sunny weather. Enjoy.
