Normandy weather in August

Hi,

Has anyone been to Normandy in August? What is the weather usually like? I'm looking at a Eurocamp type holiday there. We want to go and see some of the WWII history. Is it warm enough there to use the pools and not be cold?

Thanks

Imagine Cornwall in August. But no cream teas! Beautiful but don’t bank on the weather.

I haven't been to Normandy but we went to the nearby Channel Islands last summer and the weather was crap. I loved it there but I wouldn't go back to that area if I was looking for a guaranteed sunshine holiday.

Find a campsite with a covered, heated pool, just to be on the safe side.

Could be shit could be great. It's usually the same as the south east IME.

We were there last August and the weather was beautiful - warm enough to eat all our meals outside and to swim in the sea, but not too hot for bike rides/walks or to sleep, which I really struggled with further south the previous year. It’s unpredictable though, like here! And we weren’t after a beach holiday as such.

Warmer and drier than Cornwall. More like SE England. Not reliable though. We went to Mont St Michel on the way home from Brittany last July and it was about 33 degrees.

Thanks all that's really helpful. We're going with some extended family who will really want some guaranteed sunshine. I might look to go further south and save Normandy for another time,

You definitley need to go further south. We've got a mobile home down near La Rochelle and that can be 40 degrees plus or pissing with rain. We had one summer where it rained for three weeks solid.

We went to the Loire valley the year before last in August and even there it wasn't pool weather. You have to go further south to guarantee it.

We went to Normandy in August 2023 (La Valley). It pissed it down all week. The outdoor pool was slightly heated but with the cold wind and rain we didn't stay in very long. The covered pool wasn't much better as it had open sides so the wind blew in and felt just as cold as outside. Definitely head further south, or find a site with a fully enclosed indoor heated pool.
