Disneyland Paris accommodation

We're thinking of going to Disneyland Paris in July, but we're a bit bewildered by the options.

We're thinking of incorporating it into a longer trip, so spending 2 days at Disney and then a couple of days before or after in Paris.

We'll most likely fly into Charles de Gaulle; we don't particularly want to stay in an official Disney hotel, but we'd like to be reasonably near.

So, can anyone recommend a sensible means of achieving this? What's the best way to get to Disney from CDG? Any recommended hotels (or anything - we're not set on a hotel, happy to self-cater)?

We're also considering travelling to Amsterdam as part of the same trip, so maybe 4 days in Paris (2 of them in Disney) followed by getting the train to Amsterdam and staying there for 4 days or so. Any advice welcome.

We stayed at the Dream Castle Hotel, it was pretty cheap and had free transport to the parks (10 minutes away).

I'd say look at hotels on that patch, so like Dream Castle, Explorers Hotel, b&b Hotel, they are all pretty cheap.

Thanks, that's good to know; we'll check those out.

We're also looking at apart-hotels (where you have your own kitchen - both kids are a bit fussy with food, so it's good to have the option to cook). It's so hard to choose!

We've stayed at the B&B hotel in Torcy and also hotel L'Elysee Val d'Europe. The one in Val d'Europe is nicer but more expensive, it's one stop (2 or 3 mins) on the local train, whereas the B&B hotel is 3 stops (maybe 11/12 mins) on the train, it's more travel lodge kind of standard. Both hotels are right at the respective train stations. There are other B&B hotels in the area but not as close to public transport, better if you have a car. Also if you are doing 2 days at Disney compare the cost of a 2 day ticket versus a 2 day/1 night package. Often the package is either cheaper than buying tickets alone, or barely any more expensive. The main benefit of the package is you can access the park at 8:30am and go on the rides that are open before they let the public in at 9:30, you can get a lot done in that hour, and you can go in early both on the day you check in and the day you check out.
