Seating for flight

We're going on a long haul flight and wondering what you'd recommend for seats. The seats are 2-4-2 and we are a family of 2a and 2c (age 4 and 2).

Would you go for the 4 in the middle to all sit together, or 2 sets of 2 behind each other so each child could have a window seat? I think I'm worried about squabbling if we sit in the middle but partner thinks it's better if we all sit together!

Thanks

We travel/have travelled a lot with our 2 DS. We always try to sit 2 and 2. Stops the boys squabbling and also means that we can switch seats which changes the dynamics and helps to pass the time. Each child gets 1 2 1 with an adult. As it's a 2 4 2 you don't have to worry about getting out to go to the loo.

I'd take the 2+2,right at the back of the plane where the aisle widens out a bit.
Both have window seats, it's a bit quieter after the meal service, near a toilet, you could put them together if they will both watch the same film, a bit more floor space for stretches, and near to the servery for extra water etc.

I'd go for the row of four together. For a long haul flight both parents will need to sleep at some point. With the row of four, one parent can sleep while the other parent has both children in sight. You can also fully spread out in the row, rather than keep to two seats.

There are no threes. Just fours and twos.

Sorry, half asleep and misread it! Teaches me to read mumsnet at this time. 😂

2+2, kids get windows adults get aisle

when they are a bit older put the kids together and adults sit behind and get some peace

Definitely 2 and 2 then parenting is also split fairly. On a 4 row there will be lots of climbing from one parent to another as well as them winding each other up.

1 adult giving 1 child the attention whilst the children are not distracting each other is the answer.

What keeps the 4 yrs dc quiet May not work for the 2 yr old.
You can also swap with dh if one dc is easier to manage.

I have booked 4 together for flights where we won’t sleep and 3 + 1 where we might (so oldest teen can rest against side).

Kids in middle 4 seats together bulkhead with extra legroom, parents on either side aisle. Ours are older but noise cancelling headphones are a game changer for long haul ✈️
