Anyone with recent experience of Norcenni Girasole campsite?

We’re looking at booking Norcenni Girasole campsite in Tuscany for late summer; we are me, DH and DD (1).

Has anyone booked with Hu Openair, and can advise about the location of these accommodations? I’ve been to Norcenni before, but years ago, so I don’t know what’s changed. We’re looking at the chalet/fixed mobile-home type accommodations, not a tent or an apartment.

We would want to be somewhere quiet, meaning probably not too close to the pools/restaurants/main social spots of the campsite, especially if there’s any evening entertainment.

Ideally we’d also want to be in the lower part of the site, as I recall that’s where most of the restaurants, shops etc. were, although I know there’s the upper pool with the lagoon etc. as well.

If anyone has booked through Hu, I’d be keen to hear your experiences. It seems to be the vehicle for booking the site’s own accommodation. When I went before (long ago as a child!) we went variously with Eurocamp, Canvas, and once with the site’s own accommodation, but I don’t recall where it was located.

We've been to Norcenni a number of times, most recently a couple of years ago, booked through Hu Openair. We got a great deal on Black Friday and treated ourselves to the higher end mobile homes with a hot tub. Fab experience all round: easy booking process, good staff on site, spotless accommodation. Nice quiet enclave of 6 homes, part of the lower village but not too close.
Happy to answer any questions - we love Norcenni!

Thanks @Newname2308! Do you know what the type of accommodation you booked is called? We have the choice of a few options, one of which is described as ‘Premium’, so I’m wondering if it’s similar to what you had.

Looking at their site, they're calling it the Excellence Green. It was fab, but to be honest I wouldn't be too bothered about getting the private hot tub again. It was fun, but not a deal breaker.
One thing I really liked was that it had 2 bathrooms, which is so hard to get with Eurocamp.

@Newname2308 sorry to jump on this thread. I'm looking at Norcenni for this summer. When you were there was the heat bearable?
Do you have any other tips re accommodation?

We've always been end of June/early July, and it's usually roasting! Up to 40 degrees, but not always. That's what I go on holiday for, it doesn't bother me. Get a mobile home with AC, have a siesta in the middle of the day, and spend plenty of time in the pools 😊

Thanks v much for replying. Really appreciate it. I have a few follow up questions if OK!

We are travelling from Innsbruck to Tuscany by train. Do you recommend i hire a car or can we rely on trains etc?

What's the supermarket situation like on and off site and again would i need a car for food shopping? I'd normally do a massive food shop on the way but won't be able to do that this time unless I hire ...

Is there a particular location in the site you'd recommend as we won't have bikes to get around?

Any recommendations for things to do in the area or would you say stay on site in easy proximity of pool and air-conditioning given the likely temp in August!?

Thanks again

  1. Definitely hire a car, IMO. Norcenni is in the countryside so I suppose you could get a taxi from the train station, but you'd be a bit stuck on site.
  1. The supermarket on site is pretty good, definitely the best one I've come across. We always hire a car so do big shops at the Co-Op in Figline, but you could probably cope just with the on site shop if you needed to.
  1. We've always stayed in the lower village, so that's what I'd recommend. That's where the main bar & restaurant area is, with the entertainment. But the pool in the upper village is better so you'll end up spenders ng time in both bits. There's a little road train to take you if it's too hot to walk!
  1. Day trips to Florence, Siena and lots of beautiful villages nearby. If you hire a car, just stick a pin in the map and explore - you won't be disappointed!

Hi @Newname2308 ! Do you mind if I jump in this thread to ask if the campsite is buggy-friendly? I will be there with a 4 y/o and 2 y/o in July and am really nervous about the reviews saying how steep it is and that the campsite train is often full! I'm wondering if I should even invest in a double buggy so 4 y/o can sit in it if she gets too hot/tired to walk? Or are there too many steps/bumpy paths on a campsite for a double to be useful? Thanks so much for any advice you have!
