Want to take my 6 wk old DS on a flight from London to Scotland - does he need a passport?

That's it really, assuming he wouldn't need a passport but it's not like he has any other ID. Also would the fact that my passport is still in my maiden name cause a problem?

can I just turn up and say "this is my baby"

many thanks

dunno. Don't most internal flights require passport as ID...

i'd suggest ringing the airline since different ones might have different policies anyway.

I flew Manchester to Exeter and needed a passport for ID for DS. Fortunately I had one already.

I would definitely call to check.

Think so. My sis took my niece to Scotland when she was tiny and she did. The passport pic was hilarious!

We travelled to Scotland in March when dd was 4m...and only needed her birth certificate. Apparently passports only needed for flights outside the EU.

many thanks, that's useful, may just take the train.

If your passport is in your maiden name you'll need to take your marriage certificate with you.

no babies don't need photo id but you would, in the same name as the ticket.

if you go to any eu country from the uk you will need a passport as uk not in the free border agreement.

I think you will need some id for flights in the uk.
