Florida with older teens.

We are very lucky and have been gifted £10k and would like to take the teens to Florida.

Eldest dc will be 18 and other one 16.
So Disney not essential although I think it’s great for all ages!
I haven’t been since I was a teen though.

Do we just book it through TUI/BA. Any tips or resources?
Is 10k enough for 2 weeks?All a bit overwhelming.

You can make £10k work but if that includes spending money, it might be tight. If Disney isn’t essential, I’d look at Universal Studios and try to get a villa or condo near there or look at one of the Universal hotels with 2 bed apartments such as Bayside. I’d look online and compare a package with BA or Virgin and then price up myself. We never drive and just use Uber to get around. Does a car matter to you? If so you then need to factor in parking charges at parks etc. While Disney isn’t essential if you’ve got Star Wars fans then a day at Hollywood studios would be good. I would also recommend joining any of the Orlando planning pages for Brits on Facebook as you will get a tonne of information on there.

I would definitely choose Universal over Disney with older teens. But personally I wouldn't do 2 weeks in Orlando, I'd split it with a week somewhere like Clearwater or Anna Maria Island.

The Universal hotels are great, even the cheaper ones.

Does your 18 year old drink? It's a bit of a funny age to go the the States as they can legally drink here but not there, but hopefully this won't bother them.

I've just booked with Virgin holidays (went into the agents) and got a week in a universal hotel with park passes and then flying to NY for three nights for £4500 (which is mega cheap). this is for me and DD11. At their age I'd focus on Universal rather than Disney and then look at a trip to Kennedy space centre which was amazing.

If Disney isn’t essential why not try somewhere more adventurous where the money can go further - Asia or central/South America?

Thanks everyone, lots to think about. We can also add spending money on top if needed.
I like the idea of going to somewhere like Clearwater as well. I went to the Kennedy Space centre when I was there,I think that should be on the list.
@Cottonheadedninhymuggins I assumed we’d need a car but if you can Uber easily that is great.
