Travel Insurance with Gallstones? Recommendations?

I’m going on holiday in May to the Canaries, and have just been dx with gallstones after months and to-ing and fro-ing with the GP. Haven’t got the full picture yet as not had follow up appointment, but I haven’t had a full “gallstone attack” ever to my knowledge (some mild to moderate aching around my diaphragm that felt like a pulled muscle/ slight squeezing a couple of months ago, but not the crippling pain everyone talks about- it was weird liver blood results that alerted the doctor to gallbladder).

I wasn’t able to take out travel insurance at the point of booking as I always would do normally, because I was still going through tests- now we know what it is, I just wondered if anyone had had good experiences with an insurer with gallstones and could please recommend? Also any ballpark idea of additional cost to premium (appreciate its diff got everyone)?

For context, im late 30s, and apart from chronically low folate and dry eyes, otherwise fit and well!

Not the same condition, but I took travel insurance for a year covering the whole world with Admiral. I have a minor heart condition completely controlled by medications. It cost £164

I had the same experience with gallstones, a year of minor pain but diagnosed from blood results. Had it out now (easy op, fast recovery) went abroad whilst waiting but insurer wanted a fit to travel note from gp and if gallbladder had erupted would not have covered it.Did have GHIC though and stayed in Europe.

Oh that’s interesting- I’m hoping I can avoid removal (my aunt had hers removed and then had long term
issues with digestion after), but wonder if the blood results suggest it needs to come out … I’m just speculating pointlessly really until I have my follow up appointment! Glad to hear you’re better X
