Northern Ireland - child friendly and GOT tours

Looking at going to Northern Ireland / Belfast for dh’s birthday - big group of family for a long weekend. He loves game of thrones (luckily most of the family do too, I’ve never watched it 😂) so wanted to do a day of film location tours - is it super boring for kids though? Kids will be 1-5yrs. Any big house / location / child friendly activity recommendations? Will be feb so cold!

I've not done the GOT tour specifically, but I'd imagine it'd be boring for the children, yes, because for them the locations will have no significance (and from similar tours I've been on, it's a lot of the tour guides giving fun facts about filming/how they used the location etc, which will mean nothing to the children). I'd be tempted to take the kids elsewhere, with another of the adults who aren't interested in GOT.

W5 is an award-winning Science & Discovery Centre in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Part of the Odyssey Complex, W5 is a perfect day out for the whole family.

Castle Ward is one of the venues. I think it was the Stark family castle. There's a kids playbarn right beside it (as part of the estate - it's a national trust property) and there's two playgrounds as well.

There's a studio tour as well that is meant to be good.

Are you going to stay in Belfast? Hotel or self catering?

Do you want to stay in Belfast or out and drive around? I can't imagine kids being interested in GOT tours. An Cregan cottages are great if you want to stay out of Belfast but kind of in the middle of nowhere, really good for family groups.
