Amsterdam hotel for solo traveller

I'm going solo to Amsterdam in a few weeks and have left it very late to book a hotel. Anyone have any recommendations for a fairly decent (but not extortionate) hotel that would suit a solo female traveller? I want to visit the museums and Anne Frank's house so bonus points if its near those. Thank you.

Central Amsterdam hotels are expensive and/or grim.

Westcord Art Hotel is just outside the canal area. The 22 bus stops outside and will get you to the centre in 15 mins. Or it's an easy 30 min walk.

There's also a 'high street' (Spaarndammerstraat) with restaurants and a supermarket 5 mins walk away.

I've stayed here twice - as a solo traveller and with my family.

I would go for a big chain like marriot or ibis.

The Hoxton is nice and very central.

If you’re wanting cheaper, Citizen M is usually fairly reliable & I recently stayed at Innside in Amsterdam-Zuid which was very reasonable, new/clean and great for access as the train station (literally downstairs) is a major transport hub.

Best Western Dam Square Inn. A really good hotel right next to Dam Square, hence the name.

Hotels in Amsterdam can be very expensive. When we go we stay at the "airport" Ramada in Badhoevedorp, which often has very good rates -- Booking dot com is currently showing me around €100/night (B&B, cancellable) the first weekend in January. You get a nice big chain-hotel 4* room and there is a pool and sauna in the basement. It's a 600m walk into the small town of Badhoevedorp, which has just enough restaurants (and in fact the one at the first set of traffic lights, 100m away, is pretty nice).

If we are going into Amsterdam itself we get the hotel shuttle to the airport (€5 going, free coming back) and then the train, although we prefer almost every other Dutch city to Amsterdam anyway.

For a solo female traveller it would be a good safe choice, as long as you don't want nightlife (and if you do, an Uber back from the centre of Amsterdam will be about €35, which is less than you're saving by staying slightly out in the sticks).

I stayed with DD, then 11, at Monet Garden, it's a bit pricey but I was consious that I had a pre-teen with me.
Lots of couples and families at the hotel, very lovely breakfast.
Easy to walk everywhere or jump on a tram but we weren't out for hours in the evening, restaurants are a short walk away, the hotel itself doesn't do food in the evening sadly.

We went again in October (DD is 17 now) on a very short-notice trip and had a great time again.

Stay in Haarlem. Fast train to Ams, a charming town and far cheaper accommodation. Just a suggestion!

You could try Meininger as they are more of a hostel & so it would be more of a mix of families, groups, solo etc & they are a reasonable price.

The Hoxton is lovely.

I used to stay at Biljmer Arena, in the Hampton by Hilton right near the train station. Its loads cheaper than Central Amsterdam. There's also the Jazz hotel which is about a 5 minute walk from the station. It easy to get into the centre.

Yes to The Hoxton. It's not too expensive, a nice vibe and easy tram access to the Museum quarter. Walkable to Anne Frank Huis.

Hotel 717 is also lovely.

Went in August and stayed at the Hotel Conscious Vondelpark. Eco friendly, very clean, amazing customer service and staff, locally sourced food, gorgeous breakfast. reasonably priced. we took a short tram ride to Anne Frank house, and other tourist attractions. cannot recommend enough.
